seeking pattern for neat ski hat

hey ladies, I know you all can help me find a neat ski type hat. I am looking for something that has some wow factor, not the usuall kinds, I just made about 10 of those. I will be using a royal blue and and pumkin yellow ( I know that sounds weird, but I swear that is the color. It will match her ski jacket. I made her the cutest hat, just recently and I put a neat flower on the side, I loved it, she said, MOM, it has a flower? So, this is the daughter that is hard to please and I was hoping to find a really cool pattern or style to make it in. Any and all suggestions will be appreciated. what about doing a basic sc hat and then a row of long sc in the compliment color?? something like that?


or a row of star stitch or trinity stitch???? :thinking1

thanks for the suggestions, but NO cone type, she is tooooo stylish for that kind. I want it to fit snug from top to bottom and real snug around the the bottom of the ears. I was thinking about mixing two colors, and doing a dc and then sc at bottom, but should I follow most hat patterns of increasing all the way down, if I do, then it looks like most bucket hats, and that is not the look I want. I am a person whom needs to follow a pattern, can not make it up myself. So I need help. Any patterns site, so I can view them, of course I have checked but jeeze there are millions of sites. if you are wanting something really snug, you should consider using a frontpost, backpost dc stitch pattern. I use it on the last 2-3 inches of my kids hats and it helps them fit snugly. You could also do the whole hat in that stitch and it would appear ribbed/knit. Just make sure you try it on her frequently while you're working on it so that you don't have to frog a whole hat when it's too small or too big.

There was a pattern that is no longer online that suggested making post stitches using <a href="http://groups.msn.com/VonsCrochetCyberspace/abklynvonneoriginal.msnw" target="_new">Elmore double crochet</a> instead of regular double crochet because the stitches come out closer together. I am trying it on a hat right now and it's right on the money.

You can change the rib pattern, but the <a href="http://www.bevscountrycottage.com/sandras-winter-hats.html" target="_new">Ribbed Round Hat</a> using Edc for the post stitches is awesome for warmth and it just looks neat.
