October 19th, 2006, 01:26 PM
I just realized that I have 4 of these to make up.
Soooooooo, I'm asking if anyone wants to join this cal with me!
You all know how wonderful the Dude is! And this is a gorgeous
afghan. http://thecrochetdudepatterns.blogspot.com/2005/11/monet-afghan.html
Come on in! This will be fun, and I would love to have others join in!
Monet #1) RH Aspen print and Frosty Green for edging.
Monet #2) RH Black and White (could not find a variegated)
Monet #3) SS Autumn Red and Bone (dbl stranded, and Bone for edging)
Monet #4) SS Autumn Red (May use Bone for edging and joining)

The pic above is of the Aspen print, no edging yet. I know the pic is
not that great, but that is due to lighting. Also, I need to figure out the
resizing, lol!

I'll join you. I've already started one as a Christmas present for my parents. So far I have one square complete (w/ edging) and have started the 2nd square. This is a great pattern and is turning out to look perfect for what I had planned for my parents. I am using RH Gemstone as the variegated with a dark navy for the joining. My parents have curtains in their living room that I wanted to make an afghan to match, and the Gemstone colors with the navy is perfect, even the pattern that the variegation is creating matches the rectangle motif in the curtains.
Yours looks great with the Aspen Print. What color are you going to use for joining?

Welcome Miranda and Qupid!
Miranda -- I also think that I'm going to have to go out and buy more yarn to finish this project. I originally bought the gemstone for something smaller, so I think I may be a skein short. However, the great thing about this is that it won't matter so much since I'll have to buy a different dye lot. It will probably make the finished product more interesting because the variegation might be slightly different.
Qupid -- what colors are you going to use?

Sonia
I may just jump in with you all on this one. I started and finished one of the rectangle grannies , and am working on a ripple now. I started this pattern many moons ago and really like it. It is very pretty ,with such a nice texture in the squares .
I like these CALgroups-- they keep you more motivated to finish what you start ( and sometimes to START more than you finish ) :lol
I will have to seee what i can dig up in the way of colors -- have no clue where I put my original ones !

Come on in JulieKay! I think I saw your ripple in the Ripple CAL.(if it is the one that I'm thinking, its beautiful!)
Thats what I love about the CALS..........MOTIVATION! You see someone making good progress, you have the NEED to keep up, lol! Besides, there is always someone to give you that kick we all need sometimes! hahahah!
PLUS, it's fun! You get to see variations of the same pattern, different colors, crochet styles, ect.! Also, you can get,or give, some wonderful tips!
Aswell as make some friends along the way!

Ok--I found some yarn and am thinking that it will work for this ghan. I am using a light lavendar and a darker purple. The afghan will have 6 squares of each color and then still debating which color to join with. I am off to order a couple of more skeins.
Here is my first square. Let me know what you all think.

Andrea--I just made that square and it took almost an entire 5oz skein. There is a bit left but not very much. I am figuring on about 10ozs for the joining but not too sure. Hope this helps.
sallenlouise
October 19th, 2006, 05:35 PM
Gorgeous Miranda! (I'm partial to those colors though, lol)
Andrea,
I am not exactly sure how many skeins.........
When Miranda and I were talking, she used just under 5 oz for 1 square.
(edging not included.)I just checked mine, and I didnt use the whole skein, but I thought it was a 7 or 8 ouncer.........NOOOOOOOO, it was 5, lol!
Bookchick29
October 19th, 2006, 05:40 PM
In the Original Pattern section where Drew first posted the link to this pattern, he said that is took 40 oz of the variegated and 21 oz of the joining yarn (http://www.crochetville.org/forum/showpost.php?p=220920&postcount=19)
Miranda -- that looks beautiful. The yarn has a nice sheen to it. What kind of yarn is that?
So excited that we have some others joining here. :yay

Ilene,
That is really pretty, I have monet but not enough but however I do have 7 skeins of the gemstone, I can't seem to find a color though to connect them do you guys think white would look bad or should I try to find something else?
Bookchick29
October 19th, 2006, 08:46 PM
Tami - I think that sounds like a great color combo. I love blues and browns together and plan to use some combination like this on one of my next afghans.
Ilene - that looks great. Thanks for the inspiration :clap
Andrea - I am using Gemstone and using Navy for the joining. It is turning out pretty good so far. It would all depend on whether you want a color that blends, or one that contrasts. I'll post a picture of the square that I have complete with the navy edging done so you can see, just need to get the camera out.
Ilene
October 19th, 2006, 08:48 PM
White would be pretty, it goes with everything just like black. Or you could pick a color in the Gemstone veragation that will match it. In mine the Frosty Green came really close to the green in the Monet.
andrea2006
October 19th, 2006, 08:51 PM
I appreciate you taking a pic for me Tiffany, I cant wait to see what it looks like. I couldnt find any navy at JoAnn's I came home with only purse handles and lining for my fat bottom bag, My hubby wanted to know what went wrong I came home empty handed. I suppose I could also line it in black. hmmmmm I guess lots of playing will tell. Or I can just get the squares made and then take the time looking around for the edging.

Qupid -- what colors are you going to use?
I thought about a very dark blue/green varigated. I'm not sure just yet. I'm making the dh buy the yarn. It is a christmas present his son as well. So if I'm doing the work, he can furnish the yarn. That's what we did for the pillowghan I just finished for the daughter. I was able to convince her it was for her cousin. The boy is a bit more savy. So I'm hoping that if I do it in peices and hide it with the other million projects I have going maybe he won't figure it out to fast.

October 20th, 2006, 08:50 AM
Good morning Qupid. It sounds like you have some good ideas for colors .
I just got back from the store and ended up buying the variegated called painted desert (?) I think it is called. It has browns, blues ,reds and a little green in it . I have no idea what edging color I will use yet. Sometimes variegated yarn is tricky. I will have to make my first square , then see how it looks. Variegated always looks different in the skein than it does when you make something with it . I'm leaning towards either brown or blue edging .

JulieKay, I just finished two mam afgans in that. They have already been delivered but I will see about my mom sending me a pic for you. One was edged in maroon and one in dark blue. It is a very nice variegated to match. It seemed that just about anything I put with it looked nice.

I'm nearly done of my brown and blue color combo first Square!! i love how the pattern is turning out I am shocked however that It took up nearly an entire skein to do one frickin square? is this normal for everyone? Mine are measuring at 14" also. I figured it was just me. I never realized that different hooks would affect the thread splitting. D@#* another thing I will need to start collecting like some kind of addict.
I just started working my first square tonight. Did you know that uf you do not read the dirrections carefully, you will end up with a corkscrew? And no matter how many rows you do, it necer quite straightens out. I had to frog it. What I wont do is confess how many rows into it I got before I finally figured out that I was supposed to skip 2 sc on the forst row.

Two squares finished and joined. Here are some pictures:
http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j10/bookchick29/th_Monet_10-3.jpg (http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j10/bookchick29/Monet_10-3.jpg)
http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j10/bookchick29/th_Monet_10-2.jpg (http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j10/bookchick29/Monet_10-2.jpg)
I was pleasantly surprised at how easy and quick the joining is.
There was a small problem when I picked up the second square to finish it tonight. I neglected to double-check the pattern for hook size and ended up doing 5-6 rows with an I instead of the H. Obviously this made the rows bigger :blush so I wasted some time on frogging.
As far as what others are saying about how much yarn this takes. For the two squares I've done it took me about 1 1/3 skeins (5 oz.). I haven't measured my squares, so I'm not sure how large they are. I've just checked to make sure they're the same size for all squares.
Can't wait to see everyone else's progress.

Looks like you guys are all doing great and making great progress. I have been messing around changing my mind on colors and haven't achieved much at this point. I had a square done, but didn't like the way it turned out-- certain variegated looks better in certain patterns to me, so I will be off to see what new color combo I can find this morning . I tried a square in the Bay print, I think it's called and it seemed too dark - the colors didn't show well, so I will try for something lighter today . I ended up using that yarn for another big granny .
Yea, the RH variegated definitely is rougher feeling and not as thick and does split to some extent too. I don't know why it is like that unless it is due to the way they dye it, but I have never found a RH variegated color that is soft and as thick as their other yarn .

Does anyone know if the texture of Red Heart Classic is better than the Super Saver? I've heard it said that the colors are different, but was just wondering.

I love the holly and ivy but havent seen it anywhere for a long time. I thought maybe they had discontinued that color . It reminds me of something antique-looking, very pretty ! What color adging are you gonna use with it ?
AND KEEP AFTER TABBY--- I bet she'll give in and sign up here before it's over ! :hook
"74" - Pretty funny, you promised to use your stash , but kinda RE-STASHED while you were at it ! I don't blame you for going for a sale that good, that was a great price on that yarn !
Fidge -- I have used the RH Classic ( in the smaller 3.5 oz skeins. ) I can't say there is much difference really. It MAY be a tiny bit thicker feeling, but not enough to notice much. There is a BIG difference between the pounders and the Super Savers though. The pounders are much more coarse and thinner in spots.

Hi everyone,
JulieKay, I know what you mean, I changed my mind about the RH monet and then decided on banana berry, but then decided to use RH choco-cherry with a brown or cranberry edging.
I have one square done and the last round doesn't seem to be right, the corners are awfully pointed. Does anyone know if they're supposed to be this way?

Hi Carolynn
Yea, the variegated to me always seems hard to decide on a color, because it is tricky. It looks one way in the store, another way with sc's, another way with dc's, and seems to change looks no matter what stitch you use, so it's hard for me to find one that looks just right with a certain pattern .
I HAD one square finished before changing colors and my corners didn't seem pointy, they were a little "rounded" after putting on the edging. Does yours look pointy with or without the edging ?

~Fidgement....I know what you mean! My RH Aspen Print is really rough feeling. Yet, some of the other colors are normal........So I don't know what RH is up to. My SIL chose the colors, and new what it felt like. I asked her if she was sure, she said yes, lol!
I was just reading through and came across this. I have made several afghans with RH... Once you wash it and use fabric softner they become the softest things around. Just rough feeling to work with. They are really great after washing though. Very soft and snuggley.:manyheart

Brandy,
Thanks for the info. I keep plugging away as I really like this color. Its just really hard to work with once the block gets near completion.
Will post a pic later today!:cheer

Thanks for the tip about the RH yarn getting softer. It must be the way they dye the variegated colors, I don't know why else it would feel so different than the other plain colors do .
Anyhow, it's good to have you drop in here ! :manyheart

October 23rd, 2006, 01:52 PM
JulieKay, it was with the edging that they got pointy, but I think I may have been reading the directions wrong. I was putting the sc, ch 4, sc all in the center corner sc but now am putting it in the 3 corner sc and now they seem fine.
JulieKay
October 23rd, 2006, 02:08 PM
Oh okay, that makes sense then. I hadn't actually put that part of the edging on the one I did, I had just put the sc edging on . Glad you got it figured out !
Bookchick29
October 23rd, 2006, 03:39 PM
Carolynn -- I have been putting the sc, ch 4, sc all in the center stitch on each corner and it does make it a little pointy. But when you join two squares together, it gets smoothed out as the ch-4 becomes part of the lattice like pattern.
Julie -- Glad to hear that you found the variegated that you like. Doesn't it always seem to work out that you spend all this time looking at other colors and swatching, only to ultimately end up using the colors the pattern calls for? :lol
I finished my third square and joined it to the other 2 last night. I'm going to continue to join the new squares as I go, making the strips of 4 and then once I finish the second strip joining it to the first, rather than waiting until the end to do all of the joining. When I join them as I go I feel like I'm making more progress and enjoy seeing how it comes together.
It took me two 5 oz skeins to do all 3 squares, so it looks like I'm on track for the 40 oz that Drew recommended. I just need to go to the store and pick up 4 more skeins.
Can't wait to see pictures of everyone's progress.

Is it too late for me to join in on this CAL? I just saw it today!!! I've been meaning to do this pattern for a while now, though, and I just happen to have a lot of RH Monet in my yarn bag... so it really couldn't work out any better.
Actually, haha, I don't really care what you guys say, I'm going to start on this tonight ANYWAY! HA! You can't stop me! :D
By the way, regarding the softness of RH... I am shamelessly stealing this suggestion from another forum (where I just read it this weekend), but someone said that if you put the entire skein in a mesh bag (like a lingerie bag, etc) and machine wash it with some fabric softener, it makes it a lot easier to work with. I have NOT tried this, but I'm thinking about tossing in a couple skeins with my regular laundry tonight to give it a try. I'll let you know!!!
CaliAdria
October 23rd, 2006, 10:03 PM
^^ PS. If you do try to wash the yarn first, be *sure* to put it in some sort of container; DO NOT just throw the skein in the washer, because as I'm sure you can imagine, it will unwind and be a total mess in your machine! :)

Caliadria,
Please let us know the results. I have sensitive skin and the weather is starting to get cool. I also compulsively wash my hands which makes it worse. If what you're trying works, I'll be right behind you. My hands are getting eaten up from this yarn.
And, welcome!!!!:yes :yay

Okay I'm on the third row so far and I already have comments to make. First of all, I didn't do the fabric softener trick yet... laundry got pushed off till tomorrow. Secondly, I lied, the color I have a bunch of is RH Ocean, not Monet, but it's close enough. Anyway, here are my comments:
1. What a cool pattern! Especially with the variegated yarn (I usually only use solids), this looks fantastic already! I can see myself using this stitch combo on some of my charity baby blankets later on.
2. What horrid yarn! This stuff feels like Brillo pads on my fingertips. No wonder so many people complain about it. The only thing I like about it is that it seems to be stretchier than my favorite (Caron Simply Soft - IMO simply the best) and has more "give". I shall persevere anyway! Pictures tomorrow!

Okay this is arguably a terrible picture but we're missing a USB cord right now and so I had to use my cell phone instead of the real camera. This is my square (YES, I actually stayed up till 1 am finishing it; granted I'm currently -- between jobs -- and I'm watching a fascinating HBO special on Elizabeth I, nonetheless I'd have gone to bed long ago)... wow do I talk too much or what? Anyway, here's my square, in Ocean. That's Xavier next to it (taking advantage of my first ever 'ghan)!
Enjoy!

Cali -
Welcome, you are off to a faster start than me and i have been here a week ! I had a question about your square-- nice work, it is very pretty , but did you say the color was ocean ? Is that in RedHeart ? Because the Ocean color here looks like light blues and lilacs -- maybe it's just the photo, but your color looks more like it has pinks ,purples and greens ? There used to be a RH color called ...oh shoot, I can't think of it, but it had those colors in it . Whatever color it is, it is sure pretty ! What color edging will you be using do you know ?

You're right Julie, that picture does NOT look like Ocean. But it is, I promise! Really, I should have known better than to post such a horrible picture! Here's an upgrade, if you will:
http://i14.tinypic.com/2ic70q8.jpg
As you can see, it is definitely shades of blue, green, lavender.
So there was some discrepancy on what colors of yarn I did and did not have, and I needed a contrasting color anyway, so I went to Wal-mart today and picked up 4 more skeins of Monet and 4 skeins of Lavender for the CC. I know I started this in Ocean, but Wal-mart didn't HAVE ocean today, and I was impatient. Maybe I'll do a couple of squares in Ocean and most in Monet. Or something!
JulieKay
October 24th, 2006, 05:19 PM

Okay last post until I have two squares connected: I have to say, as I work this up, it is AMAZING just how much like a Monet painting it is! I mean, I "get" why The Dude called it that. With the variegated yarn (and especially these colors), it REALLY reminds me of Water Lilies. How cool!!!

When I see all of you
Making squares put me to shame ....

Let me be the one
To help you achieve your dream
What color do you want, my friend ?
It'll be MY PLEASURE to help you achieve the end .
I've tried every yarn throughout the land .......
And all I have to show is a pair of sore hands .
I will mail out the yarn to you
Just tell me old pal, what color will do for you ?

Sonia, Fusion is a pretty fushia type pink color that goes very well with the choco cherry. the Jungle print looks like the surf and turf but has green in it instead of the blue. Eden green is a pretty solid that matches the Jungle real well. i think i have almost every color of essentials

Wow, this gang gets busy at night ! Lots of posts to read up on this morning .
I am not familiar with a lot of the colors you guys mentioned. If it's TLC, they don't carry that here close to me, so I'd have to go on a yarn journey to find it in person I think . They do sound pretty, so maybe someday when I'm out with some extra bucks and run across it, I'll get some !
I usually just go to the next town over to walmart and you have to hit them at just the right time or their selection is kinda low .
I really havent had 13 different yarn colors to start this afghan with. It just SEEMS like that many !

Julie~~I didn't think that it had been THAT many different choices.....LOL...:devil . Since you are having such a hard time deciding why don't you just make 3-4 of these. Once you get started these really do work up quickly.

I have a one-track mind and sometimes it doesn't stay on track real good. It veers off course and goes over a hill someplace .:lol

Wow, everyone's been busy while I was at the orthadontist with my son. As for the choco-cherry yarn for anyone that's going to use it or thinking about it, it is a beautiful color worked up. I made a rug (a mystery pattern Julie sucked me into, surprise, surprise) with that color, burgundy & tan. I will let everyone know what i'll be using as soon as I know. Thanks Julie! :hug You are too sweet. :manyheart I'll be watching the mail. Thanks again. :hug

Hmm I would like to join this but the pattern doesnt say how MUCH yarn you need for this...i have a halfway finished lapghan of variegated yarn but i dont want to frog it if i dont have enough (roughly 6 -8 skeins I believe)...
about how much will I need for this project?

Barb, that looks great I love the color.
Marlena, In an earlier post they said that the original pattern was 40 oz of the yarn for the squares and the color you join with was 20 oz. I would have put that post in here but couldnt figure out how they do all that lol.

Nope, you're wrong ! I have picked out colors -- I ended up choosing 2 plain colors for the squares . I havent had much success picking a Variegated that I am satisfied with ,so I just got Simply Soft in country blue and dark country blue, I think they are called . I'm just gonna make the squares in those colors and alternate them each row . I have the first one done and will try to finish the other color square today then will post both of them together so you can see them . I like how the first one turned out. Kinda plain looking ,but the stitch shows up nice on it . I think they'll look good together . I MAY edge them in white or navy or leave them as is, I havent decided yet about that part .
Hoping your box # 1 arrives today ! And maybe the second tomorrow or Sat .
I am excited to hear if you like the color I picked -- let's put it this way - I have ALWAYS wanted to make something with it and never have. I can't wait to see how it looks made in this afghan !

Julie~~There is nothing wrong with choosing 2 plain colors. I think this afghan will look great with either solids or varigated. I am using 2 shades of purple and from laying them out on the floor, the 2 shades are making a nice contrast. I can't wait to see yours done in the blues.

Okay here are my first two squares. The one on the left is Monet and on the right is Ocean. I wouldn't necessarily say these go together normally but I think the lavender CC is bringing them together. What do you guys think? I can either make 1 ghan with alternating squares, or I can toss Ocean and make it all in Monet. I'm really torn here.
FYI, DH actually stopped talking in mid-sentence last night to say, "Oh my God, that is GORGEOUS! Babe, that may be the prettiest thing you've ever made!" (He was talking about my Ocean square). :blush

Hi Adria
Very pretty ! I think you could go either way with this one. It looks very nice with both of the colors, like you said the edging color kinda combines them all into one ,so it looks nice the way it is , but if you're not happy with it like that, you could always make 2 afghans, and use all monet for one and all ocean for the other .
That is really nice what your husband said to you !
( To make your photos smaller, this is how I do it. There might be an easier way, but this is what I do - )
I have an account at photbucket.com(FREE). You upload your photo to there, then at the bottom of the screen, there is a grey box to click on that says Generate html code ( or something like that ) .
Click on that, then scroll down on the next page that opens to the box that says- clickable thumbnail for message boards .
Copy that entire thing in that box, then come back in here, go to post, and paste the entire thing into your post.
that should do it !

I think I'm going to forge ahead with both colors for now... You're absolutely right in that if the finished product doesn't look right, I can always make two 'ghans out of it. Besides, each square is self-contained and pre-outlined before joining, so there won't be much frogging to do if I want to take it apart and put it into two!

I just purchased one skein of the RH Monet, and will work that up in the Dude's pattern to see how I like it. So ... I hope it's not too late to join in the CAL. I'm not a big fan of the RH yarn... it feels so rough to me... but I do love the colors and didn't see anything in the store that I like better.
This may have been discussed before, but what is the best way (if there is any?) to soften this yarn up a bit?

Julie, I think you have officially ruined me here. I made my very first afghan out of Caron Simply Soft in those two colors (along with the dark green, light green, and cream), and ever since then that is my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE YARN. Seeing how pretty and shiny those two squares are... Mine seem fuzzy and rough by comparison. :fluffy *sigh*
Yarn jealousy alert! Yarn jealousy alert! :rabbit
Actually... I do have several skeins of simply soft in Berry Blue, but it's *supposed* to be for another 'ghan... No. I'm going to stick with what I have. What the heck ELSE am I going to do with the bajillion skeins of RH Monet I've got laying around now? :laughroll
UPDATE ON FABRIC-SOFTENING RH YARN:
I did this the other day, and it did work (tho not as well as I'd hoped... didn't make it into Simply Soft, for instance). However, it is VERY IMPORTANT to run the yarn through the dryer TWICE. The inside of the skein did NOT get dry the first go-round and I didn't notice it until the next morning when I pulled it out of the PLASTIC BAG :ohdear: I'd put it in. I had to rip the skein apart so it could air out. *sigh* :yarn

What color are you gonna use ,Mel ?
And yea, you could use an I instead of H. The squares may turn out a little bigger and it may take a tiny bit more yarn ,but that's no big deal ! :)
Adria
Yea, SS yarn is nice to work with ,although the weaving in ends with it drives me to drink. I swear I could leave an end 2 feet long and weave the entire thing in, and it'd slide out eventually . That is my one gripe about the yarn, but it IS nice to work with .

Hi..
Since I posted, I decided to try this yarn out. I followed the pattern and chained 47, and did three rows. Decided to measure, and it was approximately 15 ins. wide... waaaay too wide! Not sure why, I am using the same yarn and an H hook, as written in the pattern. Anyway, I measured again, frogged those rows, and chained 38 and that is measuring about 12.5 ins., which is where it should be because I will be adding one row of sc's as a border, which should come to just about 13". Has anyone else found the gauge to be off?
I love the color, but really hate the way the yarn feels... the crocheted piece feels like cardboard! I sure hope I can get it to soften up a lot!

My squares are coming out to be about 14". I just attrubited it to be the fact that I crochet loosely. As for the crocheted piece feeling like cardboard--it should soften up after the piece is washed and use lots of fabric softner.

Joan, my first few rows are coming out to be 15" as well, but by the time I get the square done, I'm able to pull and prod them into shape and they wind up being a perfect 13". I've had the same experience with all three of the squares I have completed so far.

I'm using RH supersaver multicolor : ocean. I have another question. Is it supposed to be kinda poofy in the middle? I mean, with there being dc in the middle ond only sc on each end it feels a little poofy in the middle after several rows. Is this right? Thanks.

Yes--Because of the sc and then 2 dc it does give it a bit of wavy effect. Can't wait to see a pic of one of your squares.

Yay! I was doing Ocean too! (This is my first CAL ever, so I'm a little overly excited)...
I decided to frog my Ocean square and continue with Monet only, though. The Ocean doesn't actually have the Lavender color in it, whereas Monet does. After completing a few squares, I felt like Ocean was standing out as non-matching, too much. So I frogged it. Of course, now I only have two completed squares again. *sigh* Back to work. DH has a friend over, they're playing video games (do they EVER grow up? I swear...), so I have lots of free time right now.

Ummm...:think No...I don't think they do ever grow up. Mine owns a PS2 and Xbox (and they are his not the kids). I actually buy him games for his birthday and Christmas. But I guess it could be worse. I do use the fact that the games justify my yarn habit.:hook
Sorry you had to frog your squares but I can't wait to see what the "new" ones look like.

Here's a general and a close up of the first square done. The lighting in my room is horrible (lovely dorms) so the colors don't show up well but they are RH Light Blue and Light Grey.

Fidgement -- That color is gorgeous! I've seen the skeins of it at the store before, but I don't think I've ever seen it worked into a pattern before. Another variegated that I'll have to add to my list for the future :manyheart

Tiffany,
I'm rather pleased with it. I was going to do the border with a claret color as I thought it really popped, but my son would prefer the soft navy, so i went with it.
Thanks!:hook

Make sure that you are ch 1, turn, sc and 2 dc in the first stitch of the next row and sc in the last sc before you turn.

Robyn - love your colors- very restful looking !

Heh, Barb, that's exactly why I haven't shown my mother this yet. I know when I do, she'll want one in colors impossible to find enough of.
So, an update. In bed most of yesterday, I got another square done and started my third. I'm going to have to hunt for a couple more skeins of the Light Blue as the shades are a bit off with the extra skeins I have here.

Barb~~you hooks will definately have wings by the time you are done. Can't wait to see it!!
I also haven't really touched my Monet since Friday. I have 6 squares done and 3 joined but am also working on a baby afghan for a friend. Most likely won't get too much done on anything today as we are taking the kids to the zoo. I don't think I would have much luck working on it there...LOL

I just wanted to pop in here and let you guys know... this is the first thing I've ever made using RH yarn, and my cat LOVES IT. I mean, he really, really loves it. Every time I leave the room, I come back and he's sprawled out over whatever piece I've been working on. He used to have an obsession with a pair of pink fleece pants I had, but I haven't seen him jump onto something with this level of enthusiasm in years!!!
The colors I'm using are too girly for a boy cat, so I think I'm going to have to buy a skein of boy colors and make him a large square to sit on. :rofl

Good Morning All
It's Monday - time for Roll Call ~ :yell
Are you out there ?
If so, drop in and say HEY ! :hi
and let us hear how you're doing today .
and also how is your Monet ?
Ya aint gonna believe it , but I hit a snag
So I dug into the handy yarn bag
What color did I pull out today, you say ?
Well, let's just say it is back to good old Monet .
The blue wasn't "clicking " with me, you see.
I needed some more COLOR in my life
Do you agree ?
Anyhow, what else is new with you ?
I'll bet I'll still be working on my first SQUARE , when the rest of you are done with Monet Number 2 !
Oh well, it gives me something to do . :D

Love the poem, Julie! :lol
Two squares finished and joined and a third is underway. I had to stop a bit last night because one of my ongoing novels decided that it had to be plotted out last night so I spent three hours pacing my room arguing with myself...
I'll be taking my current square with me today and I'll work on it during my lunch and in-between classes. Now, off to get a couple hours more studying in before my exam.

So on and off, I work on Monet,
While I soak my hands in lotion, oh yeah:yes !
I hope this ghan softens, with numerous washings!
If not, I'll be pouting:( while touting my choices:eek !
Oh well, its monday and the best I can do at the moment.
I'm still on #2 and all my other works in progress!:hook
