I have been searching for a long time for a pattern on this. I really, really, really, wish I knew how to write/create my own patterns. There was a pattern that was discussed on here a awhile ago, that had a black and white photo with it. I tried that pattern. It was hopeless, the instructions on forming the top of the foot for the boot were really messed up. I got that far, making the stiches, undoing them and remaking them at least six times before I started crying. Maybe I am taking these boots or the idea of making them myself too seriously. But, I really want to make them. I unravelled everything and gave up. There's got to be a better way. I am just not experienced at free handing it. I hope you gals can help.

So, basically it's just a boot that has a close fitting foot. Double strands of yarn would make sense for comfort and warmth especially up here in Canada. And the boot follows up in one piece to the knee where it's tied behind or in front of the knee with a drawstring type cord/thread. I guess you could start with any pattern and go from there. I just don't know how to go about 'going from there'.

I would really appreciate ANY help or ideas or input.

Thanks so much.

IMO, Crochet Pattern Central should be the first place you look when hunting for a pattern. It's more than likely that what you're looking for is right there.

Thanks for the link and pic, Josie. Very cool boots. Not quite what I was looking for, but maybe if I can get my thinking outside the box, I might be able to adjust it to what I want.

This was the pattern that I tried.

www.craftown.com/crochet/pat19.htm (http://www.craftown.com/crochet/pat19.htm)

If you scroll down to Top (isn't very far down) and check it out reading up to Round 6, I got that far and then got majorly confused about this:

Round 6: Ch 2, 1 h d C in each st to center toe st; * 1 h d c in same st, sl st in other side of toe, repeat from * 3 times, 1 h d c in each remaining st, join. Break off C C.

"sl st in other side of toe" what does that mean? I don't get it.
Looking at the pattern do you think there is any other way that I could just have the foot as a closed slipper almost that you would only slip your foot into and then the rest of the boot is laced up and around the leg to the knee ? That would sure make it easier wouldn't it?

I like how these look also but how would I keep the foot the same and get it to go up the leg ? :

I am laughing at myself now... what do I expect? I am one of those people who hangs on to a pattern with a death grip. I have never just crocheted something on a whim without a pattern. I'd sure like to learn how tho.

Thank you for being so willing to help.

I'll keep checking back for your input.

You're welcome.<img border=0 src="http://img28.photobucket.com/albums/v84/crochetville/bow.gif" /> If there is something else I can help you with, let me know.

P.S. I'm not sure what the pattern means by "the other side."
