They make great Christmas gifts :ctree and they're quick and easy. I've tried this pattern successfully...

This one says it's for men, but I just scale down a little and use feminine colors for ladies:
http://www.bevscountrycottage.com/menslippers.html

Then this is the same basic pattern for babies...so cute:
http://www.bevscountrycottage.com/bevsbooties2.html

I'm going to make a pair for each of the ladies I work with at the animal shelter as gifts.

Darski,

Absolutely!! Great looking pattern!! I think my dad would love a pair of these!!
I wonder if I could sew on some sort of non-skid surface to the bottom...?

I need to do this like I need another hole in my head but I would like to make some baby booties. Or maybe some cute adult size for a family christmas exchange. Are we all doing different patterns or the same?

I think whichever patterns we like is fine.

I made one slipper last night from the first pattern I posted, and I had to frog the whole thing...long story, but it came out looking funky. LOL

Starting over this evening.

I use fabric paint, the stuff that comes inthe squeeze tubes with the fine point. It works great, kids love it too!:D You can personalize their slippers so that they know exactly what is theirs.

I would like to join this. I need to get on the ball for Pine Ridge anyway I can always make lots of slippers for them. I use this (http://www.geocities.com/heartland/ridge/1511/rubysslippers.html) pattern a lot. It's easy, and warm. I love it. I've made about five pairs of these so far. Here's (http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y12/TPryst/3670aac1.jpg) a sample (these are long gone, but to see what they look like...) I can't wait to see what patterns other people use, too.

Tina,

I made one slipper last night from your pattern!! WooHoo! It came out great...at first I could not figure out the pattern for the Version 1 cuff...I just couldn't wrap my brain around it, then I realized it meant to go UP AND DOWN and not around!! LOL

Thanks so much...and I love the tummy in your slipper pic! LOL

Yup, the UP and DOWN makes the 'ribbing'. And, I love that tummy too. :lol He used to try to get into all my pictures. He still wants me to take pictures of him; he's a monkey. :P

I can't wait to see your slippers Shelly! I want to get a pair started, too. I know I saw a pair of slippers someone here at Crochetville made up that were cool. I wanted to try them; but our computer crashed since then and I don't have it bookmarked... I'll probably just make another one of the pair I linked to... :hook

Sea Shelly :think I am just wondering where you work that you would get bit by a dog. I hope it isn't too bad. Do you know the dog? What if it had rabies? We had to put one of our dogs to sleep for that reason (it kept biting people in our family; namely our youngest son.)

Hey y'all,

I work (volunteer actually) at the Humane Society.
It wasn't the dogs fault.
I was playing with her...tug of war, with a plush toy...she is a sweety named Sasha...a pit bull of all dogs...strong jaws!
She was merely trying to get a better mouthhold on the plush toy and she accidentally grabbed onto/into my hand. I sucked in my breath when it happened, and she immediately let go, but man do those doggies have a heckuva bite.
She ran away, afraid at first, but after I had washed and bandaged my hand, she came up to me and laid her head in my lap...she truly was sorry.

My hand is a little swollen, but it's not a bad bite.

I was cat bit much worse than this by a 25 pound tomcat about a month ago.
He's a little "off" so we keep him at the shelter without adopting him out. I was stamping donations with a rubber stamper (repetitive motion)-- and I guess he saw my arm as something to pounce. He sunk his teeth in deep. 4 puncture wounds. ouch!

At least, being at the shelter, I know they've all had their shots because we give them to them. :)

Aha! :lol I was thinking maybe the Humane Society or something (maybe a vet's office).... That is so sweet about the dog laying her head in your lap. :manyheart I used to go into ours (where we used to live, in Michigan there was one right down the road from us), just to see the kitties. :c9

Has anyone made this (http://www.crochetandknitting.com/slippers.htm#tips) slipper before? (With success?) It does not make sense to me at all. I feel like it should be in the opposite loop that she says. If I turn, and go in the back loop, it would be making the slipper go inside out.... :angry Now I have fuddled through the bottom and the sides and am on the top part. I had to put it down and do something else because it was irritating me so bad. Oh well I'm almost done... (It's just that I have to do another one just like this.) It fits perfect though and they will make him happy so I guess it's worth it... :wink

Yes I KWYM :P Where it says 'in back loops only', I think it should be in the front loops. Or it ends up turning towards the opposite way it should go. Then I don't get the last round AT all. I just slip stitched all around.

Well I am going to try and tackle the top part today. :rolleyes

I have had a similar experience when making the "ribbing" rows for crochet sweaters.

I was sure they wanted me to alternate between FLO and BLO but in fact it does work when you use Back Loop Only. I'm not saying it applies here but I just remembered that experience from your words.

darski
November 4th, 2006, 02:19 PM
I am making this pattern - still doing the sides.

It is HUGE!

I have big feet and these are going to be loose on me. i can't imagine a sz 6 wearing these.

I am also having to take out some stitches along the sides to bring it in a bit. I took some off at the heel to so they will stay on. i am using a chunky yarn which coud explain the sides but the sole is wayyyyy big too.

Still have some rows to get to the top front but I am getting there.

darski
November 4th, 2006, 04:44 PM
OK, I have been there and have come back :frog

I had enough room to pile 3 sets of toes in that front...

Soooooo I ripped it back. I am taking away 2 stithces at the heel every other row.
I took away 6 stitches (evenly) from the first row. I am working to what I know it is supposed to look like rather than the pattern at this point.

For the top part... I am going to make an insert and attach it with sc to get that raised ridge look that this calls for. It may also let me do something creative or use beads.

I did get to the top and start what they suggested but it was just a mess. why suddenly switch to dc at this point. It also started toform a circle rather than keep the straight look. Not a pretty sight!

Someone said the Caron Circle Jacket is an Inspiration Pattern. I think this pattern is the same way.

Mom w/a Motif
November 4th, 2006, 06:21 PM
Well inspiration, or desparation? :lol I know, the top doesn't make sense to me, either. Mine is all bunched up and waaaay too many stitches for it. I still haven't picked it up again that's how irritated I got with it last night. I don't know what I am going to do with it. The rest of it looks good now that it's done, but....

I can't wait to see what you come up with. And I was going to say, yes, it is probably the chunky yarn you used. (That made it come out so big.) Mine looked huge, but when I tried it on his foot it fits fine.

Tina

darski
November 4th, 2006, 06:25 PM
I can post the pattern I come up with for that top. You can always add some sc rows or something if you need more to fill the space.

I am at the point of needing that top - I took a break after all the crocheting, frogging and crocheting again.

well i made ONE of my slippers last night. took what seemed like forever to get that pattern to work for me. i thought the 2tr clusters and the 3tr cluster should be placed differently. but once i just DID what the pattern said and didnt worry over it, it worked!

i will try to post a picture tomorrow. my batteries died and they need recharging.

so my youngest (23) was here today for a short minute and i showed her. :manyheart even in the BRIGHT yellow i made it in!

three hours after posting this originally I FINISHED THE OTHER SLIPPER!:clap :clap

darski
November 4th, 2006, 10:18 PM
this did work but I am :frog ing the whole thing as soon as I type this. This makes me think of "Plan 9 from Outer Space":eek

so for that top piece.

row 1: ch2, 9 sc in 1st ch, join, ch1
row 2: *2sc in same space as ch1{or sc as you work around}, sc in next sc, 2sc in next sc*join ch1
row 3: *2sc in same space as ch1{or sc as you work around}, sc in
next 3 sc, 2sc in next sc*join ch1
row4: *2sc in same space as ch1{or sc as you work around}, sc in next 5 sc, 2sc in next sc* join ch1
row 5: *2sc in same space as ch1{or sc as you work around}, sc in next 7 sc, 2sc in next sc* join ch1

This forms a rounded triangle shape that fits neatly into the toe area...continuing with straight rows..

row 6: 2sc in fist sc, sc in next 9 sc. 2sc in last stitch, ch1, turn
row 7: sc in 1st 6 sc, 2sc in next sc, sc in next 6 sc, ch 1, turn
this should now be wide enough for the top.
row 8: sc in every stitch across, ch1 turn.

continue row 8 until you have the piece as long as you need for fit. finish on a right side row ( yarn is at left edge as piece faces you)

Do not break off, join toe piece to moccasin using sc around.

This really did work and looked good. I also used the TBL technique on the straight rows

Hi guys .. I'm new here and I have been wanting to make some slippers so what a perfect opportunity!

But .. I'm a total dunce when it comes to making anything* round in crochet. I just have not been able to master that task, so I'm making slippers out of squares. Sounds silly huh?

Square Slippers (http://frugalhaus.com/scripts/freepat2.asp) is actually a knitted pattern but I'm doing it in crochet, using a simple tunisian stitch so it matches the knitting. It's working up pretty nice once I got all the details figured out.

Anyway, just thought I'd share and say that I'm working right along with you guys and I love all the patterns that have been posted. Perhaps I'll be able to join you in the round someday. ;)

*(seriously, I can't even make granny squares .. no joke .. )

Taligator have you checked out Crochet Pattern Central? They have a whole page of slipper patterns (http://www.crochetpatterncentral.com/directory/slippers.php), (<-- there's the link!) all free. There was some pretty easy ones on there; I bet you could find an easy one.

And, that's what a CAL is for, to help out people when they can't figure out a pattern. In fact Darski is helping me out right now with one, and I've been crocheting for 17+ years.... :P

Taligator, I remember that pattern from my search for knitting patterns. it could easily translate to single crochet slippers.

Lion Brand has a neat square pattern that does not need to go round. You do need to be signed in though
http://www.lionbrand.com/patterns/cwet-pix.html

Tina, you are very welcome. I still like the look of these slippers but the sole came way up over my foot. should have told me something right there. i am going to start again from scratch following the intention of the pattern

I have to ask why she made the join at the front. I first thought it was so the upper portion could be done but she broke off for that.. It seemed like a good idea at the time

taligator
November 4th, 2006, 11:09 PM
Thanks for the welcome! It's nice to see an active forum .. so many just aren't. :)

The "problem" I have with round things is doing things into the ring. It just never comes out right. I can chain and then slip stitch to join and then it says to do x number of y into the ring and then from there it's all downhill. I don't know WHY, I've tried so much to do these things but there is either something wrong with my method or I'm just meant to be a square kind of person. ;)

After I figured out the guage on these slippers in the square it's super quick to make them so I'll just keep on working with these and once I've done them then I'll tackle one of the other patterns.

I'm only a Beginner-Intermediate crocheter, is that pattern too difficult, ya think?

It might be. (Although not having tried it I wouldn't know....) There are a whole lot of easy slippers at Crochet Pattern Central, though. And the two that Liz posted links for look pretty easy, too. :)

I don't remember it being very difficult from my reading of it. I am going to try it to see how it goes becasue I just saw the cutest set done in pink. (slightly different pattern but pink!)

Well I am () this close to being done with my hubbys' slippers, but.... :( The one I finished kept coming off his foot when he walks.... It is a little big on him. :( (again.) So.... I don't know. I might wash it in hot water to see if that helps. Or tie something around the edges? He said something to me last night about it so maybe he has an idea....

I feel disappointed; I really wanted to make him a pair of slippers that would be nice... (He says he likes them, but the fact that they keep falling off...) Oh well.

Thanks for the insert instructions Darski, they really did make a triangle and went in there nicely. I'll post a picture of them later after I get this second insert sewn in....

Tina

darski
November 6th, 2006, 10:24 AM
You can make the insert longer and so it will come up higher on the instep.

One trick I used with a pari of slippers I was given was a small elastic thread woven through the top of the opening. it doesn't show but it keeps it just snug enough to stay on

Mom w/a Motif
November 6th, 2006, 11:53 AM
Darski I did make it longer, I think twelve rows. That wasn't the problem, it was that the slipper is too loose on his foot. I might try the elastic. I think I have some in my sewing box. (It's just *sewing*- ugh...) :P

Tina

darski
November 6th, 2006, 12:25 PM
i knew it was huge when it was supposed to fit a size 6 and it was loose on my foot.
I think the problem is in the sole - it is just too big. I want to play with that pattern when I have a minute because i like the look of the slipper, just not the execution of the pattern; it needs work

Mom w/a Motif
November 6th, 2006, 02:49 PM
:sigh Well here is my slippers. *If* (and that's a big if) I ever make them again, I would go down a hook or two. I guess I'll try crochet around some elastic or something, to keep them on his feet....

well i gave my daughter the slippers today and she loves them! however, this pair will be going to her room mate who wears a size 11. they were way to big for shelle..... one of the other girls that saw them, wants a pair, (maybe - we'll see. not making promises) so i'll have to go down a size for shelle, and down two for my granddaughter and i. the oldest daughter will wear them (slippers) if the come up over her ankle, so looks like i may be doing the purple ribbed pair soon as well

The "problem" I have with round things is doing things into the ring. It just never comes out right. I can chain and then slip stitch to join and then it says to do x number of y into the ring and then from there it's all downhill. I don't know WHY, I've tried so much to do these things but there is either something wrong with my method or I'm just meant to be a square kind of person. ;)

If it's any consolation, I've been crocheting for 20+ years and I still haven't mastered granny squares. I can't keep them a consistant size or shape to sew them together.:think I'm hoping to work some up for the charity requests because it will be good practice and mixed in with other's work, the size differences might be workable.

I guess we all have our crochet nemesis.:devil

Oh! I just have to say that if I figure it out I'll share it with you and see if we can muddle through it together.

ALTHOUGH - last night I correctly crocheted my first yamika .. well, actually it's supposed to be a hat but it's not done so it looks more like a yamika at the moment. *G*

I went to our local Crochet Meetup and got some excellent tutelage that helped me to figure out where I was going wrong. I got a super simple pattern for the hat and while I did have to undo two rows, I know WHY I had to do it and where I went wrong so it was worth the effort.

Once I finish my hat, I'll probably try another one and THEN I will tackle a round slipper. Or maybe I'll try the slippers now that I've got rounds a little better ..

*wanders off to find a snazzy pair of slippers to try*

I was determined to make that moccasin slipper style work so I :frog 'ed it and remade it according to where it should go and not the pattern.
Firstly, I redid the sole with 2 strands and using only sc and hdc I did keep notes for this sole to use for other slippers too
It is a really nice sole at this point - very firm and comfy

http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b121/lenedar/sturdysole.jpg

I redid the whole sides and top as well with a bit of an eye to the appearance of the original. i did the upper portion by picking a spot along the sides where I would want it to start and did a chain across, joined it at the other side then worked with sc TBL all the way down and connecting to each side. I like this version but i have to make one that matches now :sigh

http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b121/lenedar/redidslipp.jpg

just a quick comparison of the two...

http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b121/lenedar/compare.jpg

I think you can see that the second one is much firmer and holds its shape.

Annie's Attic today has the baby socks as the free pattern - Friday Nov. 17th.

http://www.anniesattic.com/free_pattern_day/index.html

I have been thinking that this pattern could make a neat slipper pattern if done with yarn and a large hook. We all are amazed at how large a pattern gets when you move from thread to yarn so it could be a goodly size as well.

someone wanted a warm and cozy slipper - I think this would do that and more.

Here is the pattern I decided on http://kaleidesigns.com/crochet/patterns/archive/sock001.html LOL so far its not as easy as it says :lol Any help on rnd 1 would be great. (btw can I post the round directions when I ask for help?)

darski
November 21st, 2006, 04:20 PM
We often post just a round or a bit of troubling instruction:

Rnd 1: 2 sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next 10 ch, hdc in next ch, dc in next 7 ch, 7 dc in last ch; working in rem lps from opposite side, dc in next 7 ch, hdc in next ch, sc in next 10 ch, 2 sc in last ch; join to first sc

Where did you have a problem? If it is about working along that other side it is just about doing what it says. You usually have at least one loop not used when you work a chain

sewnsew
November 21st, 2006, 04:25 PM
I'm stuck on working in rem lps from opposite side. I just did the 7 dc in the last chain and now I'm sort of lost on how to proceed. Am I supposed to work on the other side of the original ch 21?

November 21st, 2006, 04:47 PM
I read this whole thread through yesterday and immediately sat down and made myself a pair of slippers. My dh saw them and asked me to make some for him next. I started a pair for him, but they turned out huge, so I had to frog them. And today my dd came home with some yarn for me to make her a pair of slippers. I used this pattern for my own slippers.

http://members.aol.com/elegantcrochet2/slipper.html

These really did take about 25 minutes, start to finish, and are very simple.
This is the pattern I tried for my dh:

http://www.angelfire.com/ca4/crochetlady/don_slippers.html

I started with a chain of 28, like the pattern said, but I didn't see where the pattern gauge was, so I couldn't check it and I finished the entire sole before I realized it was huge. I then tried 24, then 20 as a starting chain, and they were still way too big. I finished one slipper before I frogged it, and Dh liked the way it looked, so I am going to try again with a shorter starting chain and fewer rounds for the sole.

darski
November 21st, 2006, 04:55 PM
That manly slipper pattern is nice. We had that same 'huge' problem with a similar pattern that a couple of us tried.

Let us know what you end up with for a starting chain so we can try your pattern. I do like that style of slipper.

Gardener
November 21st, 2006, 08:32 PM
A starting chain of 18 made the length about right for my dh's size 10 1/2 foot, if I did the 5 rounds. However 5 rounds still seemed too wide and once I started putting the sides on, the entire thing looked huge again, just not as long. I did a lot of decreasing as I did the sides, but it was still really loose. I've made and frogged another slipper, and I'm getting discouraged with this pattern. Guess I'll sleep on it!

darski
November 21st, 2006, 11:05 PM
Gardener, when I redid the other pattern I used two strands of yarn and depended mostly on sc and hdc I have a very wide foot and I still got my sole finished in three rounds. I wear a man's wide width Dr. Scholl's walking shoe - the only one that doesn't kill my feet so I really do mean a wide foot.

For this style, it is all in that sole; the sides are just straight SC all the way with a couple of decreases if they get out of hand. It was easy to finish that upper part by just joining the yarn in one side where I wanted it to start and then chain across to the other side and join.
I will look for my notes on the one I redid - it might be a good start for you...

man's 7.5 to 8 row 1

with black using two strands - really comfortable
ch 18
2hdc in 2nd chain from hook
hdc in next 9 ch
dc in next 6 ch
6 dc in end chain
dc in next 6 along the other side
hdc in next 9
4hdc in starting ch. - join

Row 2
work sc in heel area and hdc all around the rest of the stitches increasing to keep the sole flat.

Row 3 sc all around adding increases as needed to keep the sole flat. Break off black

Sides: join other colour at heel back- join every round
Row 1: work 1 sc in every stitch decreasing 1 st at heel back
Row2 and other side rows: work on sc in every stitch decreasing if needed at instep as needed. In your final side rwo decreas 1 st on each side of heel area

Work upper as per your pattern or join yarn in instep area where it would be comfortable, chain across to other side being somewhat snug but not tight, join to other side.

If you need help to join along the side while working across the chain stitches, just yell :D
This made a really nice, snug slipper

Hey Darski!

I think they would work very well unfelted, especially if you worked 2 strands of something heavy worsted or bulky with 2 strands. They are double soled so I bet you could make them nice and cushy that way. Down-scaling the flower might be tough, but I think it would be do-able. I have just had to delete a post in this thread that provided links to a huge number of pages that had scanned images of copyrighted patterns, posted without the permission of the copyright holders, as far as I could tell.

Posting links to sites like this is a major violation of our forum guidelines related to copyright, and can result in a member's forum access privileges being revoked if it happens more than once.

I have already contacted the member who posted the links to let them know why we have a problem with links to that type of site and request that she not post any more links like this in the future.

As a reminder, if a site contains patterns that are scanned images out of magazines, books, even free pattern sheets available at craft stores, do NOT link to those sites here. Any such links will be deleted, and if you do it after I contact you and remind you this is a serious violation of our guidelines, I'll have no choice but to remove your Crochetville membership privileges.

If you ever want to post links to a site and you have questions about whether the links can be posted here, please send the links to me in a PM. I'll be happy to check them out and let you know whether or not they can be posted here. :)

Another issue relating to copyright: if a pattern is no longer available on its original website but you track it down through webarchive or the waybackmachine, please do not post the link here.

If the original author has removed it from the internet for whatever reason, we need permission to distribute it again here via web archive links.

If you have any questions about why we can't allow webarchive links here, just let me know via PM.

I used this pattern for my own slippers.

http://members.aol.com/elegantcrochet2/slipper.html

I am hoping for some help...I too am using the above pattern and I am totally stuck on this part:

"Finishing Round.
Fold the ends of the previous Row together, wrong sides together, and slip st in first st. With right side facing you, ch 1, and put 2 sc in the end of each row to the first dc. Work 2 dc in next st, 1 dc in next st, 4 dc in ch 2 sp, 1 dc in next st, 2 dc in next st. Work 2 sc in end of each row across. Join with a sl st in first sc. "

The Bold part is where I am stuck.....I cannot imagine how to fold the ends of the previous round together. I would be so appreciative if someone could get me past this. Thanks! :manyheart

I am assuming that you have arrived at the heel portion. Fold the slipper in half with the short side (the heel) open and the long part folded.

Take one slip stitch to connect the two edges and then begin working around the newly formed top. Your heel part is dangling open at this point.

Thanks darski! When I fold the slipper in half then the "hole" where you stick your foot in is very tiny. I wonder why this part is in the pattern:

First decrease row:
Dc in next 7 sts. Decrease 2 sts by working ( 2 dc together) twice. Dc in next 8 sts. Ch 2, turn.

Second decrease row:
Dc in next 6 sts. Decrease 2 sts by working ( 2 dc together) twice. Dc in next 7 sts.

by doing these 2 rows (which only went approx. 1/2 way across the width of the slipper...it leaves like a "tab" of some sort. Like it's suppose to be folded on itself......no matter what I do...even what you suggested is not working. I'm not frogging yet....gonna put it away and look at it again tomorrow. And I know it's hard to try and explain my problem. Hopefully I can get it cuz they are cute slippers!

Thanks so much darski!

I hope this will help to show what you do where with this slipper

Here is the slipper with the decrease rows completed and the heel still open

Yeepee Darski! Thanks so much! :clap

I am taking my slipper to work and gonna try and finish it on my lunch hour.

I don't know why I just have 1/2 rows for the decrease rows...I'm just gonna continue to the end of the 1st and 2nd decrease rows with dc.

You are the best! I appreciate your efforts so much!

Hi all, I'd like to join in on this. I'm trying to atempt to do some booties first. I made my first pair and they are an inch too small. Maybe someone could tell me what I did wrong.:think I'm new to anything with gauge made to wear, I usually do snowflakes and doilies and the occassional scarf and afghan but want to learn to do more.

I used Bev's Quick bootie for newborns and bernat softee baby sport D.K yarn with an H hook. I think they look like the pic on the pattern just an inch too short all the way around. Any tips would be appreciated.:hook

I forgot about a pair of slippers I made up about maybe a year ago. During the sock-slipper swap. Here (http://timelesscreations.blogspot.com/2005/10/slippers.html) is the only pair I ever made. Our nine year old confiscated them. He hardly wears them either. Anyway I want to make mine in pink!! I don't know why but I am on a pink kick lately. I was on a green kick a few months ago.... :P

Thanks Penny. :2blush I haven't started my pair yet. I was going to last night then I realized the new 'lt. raspberry' RH I bought (to make something else with) was exactly the color I needed to finish the slippers I started for this CAL in the first place....

Anyway. Has anyone seen these (http://crochetmecrazy.blogspot.com/2005/10/no-these-are-not-my-hairy-legs.html)? I want to make some of them! And they are green!! My other favorite color lately!! The pattern is here (http://members.aol.com/_ht_a/lffunt/hexslip.htm). Now I would never have thought I would want to make these unless I had seen the ones she made.... I went through Crochetville and did a search for slippers last night.... :heehee I found those in the miscellaneous thread.

After darski helped me get over the hump with these slippers, I have been going crazy! I have 2 1/2 pairs complete (shooting for 10 complete pairs)and will be giving them away in my Adopt A Senior Project next weekend. I plan to use puffy paint on the bottoms of them.

Donna those are really neat! These are just the fastest slippers going.

I love this pattern and I'm actually glad you needed some help so I got to try it. I can just grab a ball of yarn and make a pair of these in any odd moment.

Donna I like your slippers, especially the glittery thread running through that one. You are so nice to make everyone slippers! I want to make my dad a pair, but..... he wears a size 13 shoe!! :eek I think I may have to make some major modifications, eh?

Well since I realized that the lt raspberry RH I bought (for something else) is exactly the same color as the one I ran out of for my slippers... I am able to finish them! Technically I've only finished one, but here it is:

PINK! :yes (Should be clickable.)

Now to go finish the other one.... Going to go put on some coffee and :hook Ah.....

Oh I was going to say if anyone else is doing this pattern and is having problems with it to ask me for help. It's been so long since I crocheted this pattern, I forgot what I did on the ribbing part. When you get to it, and it says 'sl st in next stitch of foot', I do two sl sts. One in the stitch directly below and in the next one. I did just the one and the 'cuff' ended up being huge! Like big enough for two of my ankles.

Thanks Darski. I wore them to bed last night. It isn't too cold here (60 yesterday and 50ish today- I'm not used to this warm weather after living in Michigan!!)... but my feet are always freezing!

i knew it was huge when it was supposed to fit a size 6 and it was loose on my foot.
I think the problem is in the sole - it is just too big. I want to play with that pattern when I have a minute because i like the look of the slipper, just not the execution of the pattern; it needs work
:yes I also like making slippers for everyone ;My question is what do you guys use on the sole to make them none skid? I use rug backing (i think that's the name.:eek

unicorn37757
December 14th, 2006, 05:59 AM
I've used that paint you do for clothing & paint different designs (like squiggles) on the bottom for helping to skid proof.:manyheart
