Thanks,

Check out Annie's Attic today-thiers is done in Red White & Blue so it'd be easy to switch to to your colors.

Any 3 color afghan would work, just change to red, green and white. YOu could even do any solid one and just change maybe every 2 rows or whatever you prefer, 3 rows, 5 rows... just make sure you have enough yarn.
How about the Kittens In A Row (http://www.bevscountrycottage.com/kitsinrow.html) afghan (link). I haven't done it yet but others have and it looks pretty easy and looks great with 3 colors.(yes these are on my to do list...)
Or how about Beths' Little Star Afghan (http://www.angelfire.com/va3/heartfeltangels/littlestarafghan.html) (link) others have done it here too, I havne't yet (yes these are on my to do list...) This would look great in christmas colors and being a star would be great. Others have made it full size.
A lot of ripples are done in 3 colors... Easy Ripple Afghan (http://home.att.net/~susanBinKC/patterns/ripple.html) (link) looks pretty easy, I've done double crochet ripples and they are easy and quick. This one shows 3 colors.
Good luck.

Thanks Kimberly and Debbi for your replies! I have seen the afghans you mentioned. I just finished a "Filet Ripple" for my mother (still need to take a picture and post) so really don't want to do another ripple if I can help it. I just want to get this out the first week of December to my friend in WI.
Thanks again,
Julie

If none of those helped too much, are you looking for something particular? Certain style?
Maybe go to the Show and Tell (http://www.crochetville.org/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=88) and see what strikes you.
I haven't done a full size afghan for a long time, still working on my "quilt" one.
Maybe a mile a minute one? Those are nice and quick.
You could even do a double or triple strand one with the colors combined, maybe for 2 colors, red and white and then green and white. There are a lot of those and they can look very nice.
Good luck.

Here's the link for the rectangular granny mentioned by simonssez. I think this is a terrific idea.
