Looking for a simple shell aghan pattern. One that is not too open and lacey.
Thanks

:cheer Do you have a book with different stitches?
If you do, just find a nice shell pattern and work it over as many stitches as needed for the width and length you want.
:hook Here is an easy Shell Pattern for you, in case you do not have a book.
:cheer Looks the same both side so is ideal for an afghan.
Shell Pattern.
Abbreviations: CH = Chain, SC = Single Crochet, DC = Double Crochet, SK = Skip.
Use any yarn with the appropriate hook.
Make a Chain the length you need plus a few. Any left over can be unpicked later.
Foundation Row:
2DC into 4th CH from the hook, *SK 2 CH, 1SC into next CH, SK 2 CH, 5DC into next CH.* Repeat to end of the row, but ending last repeat with 1SC into last CH. CH3 turn. (CH3 stands a first DC every row. I just do it before I turn)
Next Row:
2DC into SC at the base of the CH, *1SC into centre DC of 5 DC Shell, 5DC into next SC.* Repeat to end of row but doing 1SC into top of turning CH of previous row. CH3 turn.
Repeat this last row to the size you want.
This pattern has a half shell at the beginning of each row and a SC at the end of each row.
Please let me know if you have any problems at all.
Hope this helps.
Have fun.

PS. Just remembered I had a picture.

If you go onto the Project Linus website and look up their patterns, there is one there for a very easy shell afghan.

I don't know if you are still looking but I love this one from Crochet Me, it is the Easy Patterned Throw (http://www.crochetme.com/easy-patterned-throw).
It's nice, not open at all and quite easy to do.

You could try a small swatch and see which of the patterns you best like. That is what I would do. pinkroses

I loved doing this one:
http://www.crochetpatterncentral.com/patterns/bubbles_baby_blanket.php
It's shown as a baby blanket but you could make it any size/color you want.
