Hi Angie! This <a href="http://p084.ezboard.com/fcrochetvillefrm49.showMessage?topicID=7.topic" target="_new">thread</a> is all about putting those work in progress bars on your blog. Hope it helps! <img border=0 src="http://img28.photobucket.com/albums/v84/crochetville/veryhappy.gif" />

I did get one percentage bar up on mine and labeled it but even after trying to make the color of the bar purple, it is still white and I can't get it to go directly under the title of the project.

thanks guys, i tried the one off Anna knits but you have to download the file, and on mine it just opens up as a picture and doesnt give the option to save it<img border=0 src="http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/eek.gif" />

I think most of us are using Anna Knits, I wouldn't even begin to know how to do it without that.

<blockquote><strong><em>Quote:</em></strong><hr>First download the Flash file. (Right-click and "Save Target As...") Copy it to your own server. Make a note of where you put it!<hr></blockquote>

When you were at the Anna Knits website, did you right click on the link that said Flash File, or just click on it? I clicked on it about a bazillion times, until I realized you actually had to right click on the link. <img border=0 src="http://img28.photobucket.com/albums/v84/crochetville/oops.gif" />

In short-where your website/blog is hosted or if you have a filehosting service. MOST free website hosting services don't allow hotlinking.

Do you have a free or pay account at blogdrive? Because if you have the free one you cannot upload anything other than image files.

Here's just one free file hosting service I found so far:www.walagata.com/ (http://www.walagata.com/) This is what they say:
What is Walagata.com?
Walagata.com is a unique, powerful, free file and image hosting service. This page is where you can sign-up for a free Walagata account. Once you have an account, you can use it to upload files from your computer to the Walagata server your account is located on. After your files have been uploaded, you are free to link to them from message boards, auctions, your personal web-site, or wherever else. You may also upload HTML files to your Walagata account, and use Walagata to host your personal web-site! Let's get started creating your account!

Here's another: ihost.it-mate.co.uk/ (http://ihost.it-mate.co.uk/) This is the only type of files they allow:
.gif
.jpg
.jpeg
.png
.swf (- shockwave object which is what you download for the percent bars)

These are just a couple from a google search for free file hosting.
I have not tried either of these services.

**Disclaimer: I am by no means endorsing any file hosting service. If you try any service you try at your own risk.

Angie, did you say you have a website in addition to your blog at blogdrive.com? You can upload the file to your website, then from blogdrive you can link TO where the file is on your website. When changing the color, there are two areas in the html tags where you need to change the color, look for both and make it the same color.

Hope this helps a little.

Let me try, Rebecca. :p

Okay, to start out with, anything (a photo, a web page, a pdf file, an swf file, etc.) you can see on the web or download from the web has to have place to live. We all gotta have a roof over our heads, right? Same for all those little web thingies. :wink If they don't exist somewhere on the web, they can't be seen. I can't look at a file on your hard drive, right? You have to put it somewhere on the web so I can see it.

Rebecca, I know you've posted photos to Crochetville from your photobucket account, so let's use that as an example. Your photos are living there at photobucket. In order for us to see those photos here at Crochetville, they have to get off their lazy bums and make the trip from photobucket over to our computers. Well, photos are inanimate objects, so they can't just hop in the car and drive over. So... photobucket serves them to us. That is called data transfer (often referred to as bandwitdh... as in, Hey, you're stealing my bandwidth!... but that is a subject for another tutorial :) ). Photobucket serves them to us using computers connected to the web. Those computers are called servers... because they serve us things (in this example, they serve us images). Hmm... wonder if I could get some eggs benedict... :wink

So... a server is just a computer that is set up to tranfer (serve) images to other computers... yours and mine. Without servers, data wouldn't be able to get from one point to another and we wouldn't have the web.

The company you get your internet from, aka your ISP (Internet Service Provider), can be your server if they provide you with what they'll usually call web space. A place to put web pages and such. Most ISPs provide this, but the data transfer you are allocated per month is often not all that large.

My server is at FatCow.com because they host my web site. I purchased a domain name (yarntomato.com) and signed up with FatCow to have them host it. (I also have web space from my ISP, but I don't use it.)
