I'm sorry, but I don't know who or where you are talking about. Any possibilities of a picture?
Anyway, welcome to Crochetville!:wave

I'm doing a little search around to see if I can help you out. My best advice is to do a little search on ebay. It's very possible that others were taken with the dress and have created a pattern similar. OR, if you have a digital camera or scanner, post a copy of the dress and someone might have seen it.

Hi! I googled this and wasn't able to find anything. A pic would be helpful as I do not have that magazine. Please post or link to a pic if you can. :)

Wow, that's incredible! It looks to me like a rather long chevron tank top. I'm not up on my crochet wearables though, but I'm sure someone can help you find something similar. It is beautiful, thanks so much for posting a link to the picture! :bounce

WOW what a dress! I bet you could easily make one...it looks like the front and back were worked seperately and stitched together along the sides (notice the yellow stitching on her side). If you work top to bottom, increasing a stitch on each end as you go, making it as long as you need it...or going from the bottom up, decreasing as you go, then doing the v neck and straps.
Maybe if you draw the pattern on paper, with the size you need, and your stitch gauge, you could probably make a pattern or have someone else who is excellent at patterns make one up. It does look like the chevron (or ripple stitch) with only one ripple.

Wow, that's a great dress! I think it would be simple to make. Yes, it does look like a chevron or ripple pattern with just one ripple. But there is more to it because with a ripple, there normally would be a hole at the point of the ripple but in the third photo you can clearly see that it's actually thicker down the middle. Hmmm...
I have never seen a pattern like that, but someone could certainly design one.
It reminds me a lot of this knit tank (http://mason204.journalspace.com/?m=5&d=5&y=2004).

I recently knit a poncho that resulted in the "v" shape we see in this dress. It was due to the increases I made at the front and back of it. (Essentially, I knitted a triangle, in the round. I wear the triangle with the points in front and back.) Of course, it doesn't really seem that this dress has points in front and back... Hmmm.

It reminds me a lot of this knit tank.
It reminded me of that one too. I wonder how adaptable the pattern would be?

hi,
Yeah, the site gives you different views. The pic in the Jet mag. is closer and its look more like a filet pattern. Its got the dc ch1 skip 1 dc pattern in the pic it looks like a cluster stitch in the middle. But I don't know where the inc or dec happens?
My knit group is going to try and help too, so maybe between all of us we can figure it out.
thank

Ken, a good number of us use photobucket.com to host our pictures. I don't think Picturetrail allows hotlinking. If you do decide to get a photobucket account, they are great because if you aren't too familiar with HTML, they give you the codes to insert without having to study first. If you have the pictures already in your Picturetrail album, you could tell us which album a particular picture is in and provide the link you gave in your introduction post.

hi,
Do you still have the pattern. I've been giving one pattern by a very nice lady for this list, but can use all the help I can get. I have some idea how to start for that pattern, but would love to see yours.

I can't wait to see it. It doesn't look to difficult but I am new at crocheting so fcreating my own pattern is a little to daunting for me. I would love to see your pattern when you are done. Good Luck!!! :cheer

hi,
Well, I'm almost to the waist and so far so good. I thought I could start at the top, but that didn't work so I started at the bottom. Trying to figure out when to do the cluster was a treat, but I'm cooking with steam now :clap and will hopefully be finish by the end of the month. Oh, I'm working on the front, so once that's done the back should be easier.

Yes, ya'll I am done. Well, almost I'm putting and edgeing(sp) around the dress to make the seams strong and that way I can use one color when putting it together. I have to wash it and measure her one more time for the straps, but the hard part is done. :clap

The link did not work for me. I think for photo albums in yahoo groups, you have to be a member of the group to view the photo album.

Maybe you could upload your pictures into www.photobucket.com ?
That seems to work for most of the gals here (myself included ).
I'd really LOVE to see this dress.

Hi,
Thank you all very much and thinks for all the well wishes.
I'm pretty proud. I've never made anything without a pattern, so this was something new. I'm making another for someone who so saw the green, red, and yellow one. She wants her to be in Reds.
