View Full Version : daughter's first project

I just taught another of my girls how to crochet. This is the first thing she has made. It is from Chelle's pattern, and made out of velour yarn (like thick chenille, but softer). It took a lot of yarn and cost her over $40. It was a gift for a friend, but she said she would never use expensive yarn again for something so big. She has since made a hook case, and is now working on a mile-a-minute afghan. She is doing great.

Wonderful job =) I can see her smile in the photo and I have to say that I'd be very proud of that pillow too if I could have made it at her age =) Looks like she had a great teacher ;)

The pillow is beautiful! My 11 year old daughter, who is also learning to crochet, was very impressed. <img border=0 src="http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/smile.gif" />

That's so awesome! I'm so impressed because it took me forever to learn to read patterns and my mom didn't crochet so I didn't have a great instructor like your daughter :D!

I have to admit, I am jeaolous! It seems like you have one heck of a student, maybe it runs in the genes. Every person I have taught so far has been a disaster, I am begining to think that it might be. Tell your daughter the pillow is gorgeous and that I wish when I was that age that my friends made me homemade gifts.

LOL thank you everyone. I guess I better tell you her age, so you don't think she is a wonder child. She only looks like a kid, she is going on 21.:rotfl

Wonderful job! :)
I want to make a chenille afghan, maybe large enough to put on my bed... but I saw the price of the yarn and have been putting it off until I can save up for it! Even the cheaper yarn is getting more expensive, but it's still much more economical than my hubby's hobbies! lol

I didn't start with things like that! I only started with a large granny square afghan. I'm sure she'll have the confidence to tackle even more challenging things now! That's great!
