My twelve-year old son finished crocheting these. The green var. is for his great-grandma (my grandma), and the yellow one is for one of his teachers. He already gave them to both of them, and they really liked them. They both said "They're too pretty to use!":)h The two chains are supposed to be bookmarks he made. Since this, he has also crocheted three GBA cases, one for him, one for his brother, and one for his friend who ASKED him if he would crochet him one! Now he is working on a scarf. (I'm going to have to get him his own crochet hooks, and a case to put them in so he doesn't lose them!):)) Thanks for looking!

P.S. He didn't even use a pattern just sc all the way across, then sc'd around the edge.

Wow! I called my 10 yo son over to see (even inturrupted his reading lol) because he crochets too (only he's never actually made anything yet lol) and showed him the picture, told him a 12 yo boy made them and his jaw dropped, then he said "That's awesome! He did a really good job!" Then he said "too bad I'm not 12 yet" (lol from mom here) and I informed him he doesn't need to wait 2 more years, and that if he would just sit still long enough, he could actually make something too lol. I think this just may have inspired him! So tell your son that not only did he do a wonderful job on his projects but he may have inspired another boy to do something with the stitches he knows =)

Marvie- That's cool that your ten year old crochets, too! I think it's a lot better than sitting around playing Gameboy, or watching TV, "rotting their brains", I tell them. At least they are using their mind to create things. (Even though they are still sitting around, but crocheting.):) Did you tell your son that (my son) he made three Gameboy Advance Cases, crocheted? That might give him a little motivation.:) :?

I did =) Only problem is, his GBA is put away till his grades come up so that isn't much incintive at the moment lol. He thinks it's really cool though that other boys crochet and I do think he's getting his mind around to trying something lol. He's expressed interest in Donna's book thongs too. Now I just need to find time to sit with him long enough to show him how to slip stitch and add beads or teach him how to turn so he can do potholders or something....

That's great! All our boys have "tried" to crochet: the youngest puts hooks in the ball of yarn and gets it all tangled up,:) the eight-year old can do a chain, and is learning to do sc, but our oldest is the only one who actually has made anything. Maybe someday they will teach their kids.:)h Or their wives, even. Then I can have a daughter to crochet with:))
