Sorry - this is the wrong forum arrrgggh can this be moved to other crochet topics? :blush

I am working on a sweater for my loaner puppy. He is a min schanuzer who has just been shaved :wbrr

Without knowing this, I started a sweater for him last night and one of his actual people asked me to make a sweater today. It is just about finished but I have a question about putting sleeves in the sweater.

This is a male dog - if that matters - and this is a full sweater rather than one that just covers the back. Should I put sleeves in or just leave them open.

I don't have a pattern but I have looked at several and they go both ways.

I am working on the bottom ribbing now so there is time to post a thought on this.

What works best for all our furry ingrates? :wlol

I made one for my aunts dog a min. cocker spaniel, and I just did a round neck with a rectangle that covered the back and sides and went almost all the way around the belly except for about a couple inches. I just made chains and sewed them on for ties to hold it in place. It was red and white and he looked so cute!!!

Mine is already made as a full sweater but the sleeve holes are still waiting until I can finish the ribbing on the bottom.

I never put sleeves in mine anymore because they can get out of the ones with sleeves better. I know dog clothes since I have 3 and I'm always dressing them & making sweaters for them :lol Also I don't think they like the sleeves.

Why not make him one each way. If he seems cold from being shaved, make him a second one with sleeves so he'll be warm on cooler days. I hope you post a pic of him wearing it.

I have asked his person to send me a picture of him wearing it. Of course, first we have to see if it fits.

However she seemed to think that it would. will let you know.

i make all kinds of sweaters for my furry little man e is a pug/teacup poodle mix, cute little guy. i even made him an intersia skeleton sweater for halloween. i go either way with sleeves some of his have sleeves some dont, only problem i find is i like to do some sc in back loop only to make a litle ribbing and then sewing it on but it seems to come off a lot with all his little claw pulls and getting stuck etc so i sew them up a lot just my :2c
