Ok, I'm feeling a little dizzy cause I finally clicked on this FreeForm forum, and discovered it's exactly what I keep seeing in my head for projects I want to make, especially for myself, and especially this one shawl in particular. It's in my head, and it's actually...a "thing"! Meaning, other people recognize it and even *gasp* do it!

I didn't feel like I needed permission or anything, but it's neat to find out that others are inspired in this funky no-holds-barred way. I'm still waiting for the picture to turn into a "start me, now" urge. :)

I've actually done three freeform shawls...and didnt' know they had a title other than Healing Shawl. They are fairly conventional, as I just felt like letting the pattern be part of the creation process, but turns out they have a category.:hook

The projects in my head will be very unique though!

I've never been that interested in (or great at) following patterns. Like some folks here, I use them for ideas. In fact, I made my first pattern purse yesterday. And guage? What's that? Which explains why my first cloche turned out to be a basketball cozy...ok, there were some problems with increasing and spirals and what not, but that's been resolved.*blush*

Anyway, I'm excited to see what other people are doing.

Welcome to the world of freeform ;) It's a addicting:hook I still love it even though I HATE to weave in ends.

LOL,,,basketball cozy,,,lol! That was good. I have seen freeform,,,,just hadn't had the urge to start trying. I am juggling with finishing a baby blanket along with crocheting several small gifts,,,and participating in a sachet exchange,,,,,but I do try this freeform one day soon.
