Hello Fellow Villagers
Does your bedroom need a facelift ? Tired of the same old colors , same old bedspread ?
Or maybe you have someone special getting married this coming year . How about a beautiful handmade bedspread as a wedding gift ? What could be a nicer item to receive ?:manyheart
I have listed links below for bedspread patterns , and also links for 12 inch squares that you could also use to make a bedspread. Maybe you'd want to make a sampler-type one, with all different squares, or maybe there is one particular square you like that would make a lovely bedspread .
Most of the bedspreads I have found online are made with thread, but why not change it a little and use yarn and a larger hook ? It'd take a lot less work to make one that way .
Anyhow, links are below . Jump on in, the water's fine .:hook

Julie!!!
Not nice!! There are soooo many pretty patterns linked. How can you choose just one??? I see a few I like. Although, I will not be doing any in thread. I am not that fond of thread. I will do a little, but not too much. How about you?? Which one are you going to work on??? I really like the Floral Overlay. It would be beautiful on my bed. And I am sure it would keep me busy. And I really need that especially now. My hubby leaves Sunday. And we are not sure when he will be home again. So I will be sad, and need to keep myself busy. I think if I go with the Floral Overlay, I will make the flowers yellow. That would make it bright and cheery.

I was thinking of making a bedspread at some point, but I have so many other projects I've been planning to make, and haven't started on any of them!
Maybe my PS could become my new bedspread...

After Christmas (and dh returns to work from vacation), I'll probably join in...There's a pattern I want to try on Celt's site that is called "Heavenly Daydream" which I think would be quite pretty in worsted-weight yarn...I'm not sure what color yet--perhaps a cream or white from the 1-lb skeins...I might just start it soon to see how big the motifs are so I can plan the purchasing of the yarn...:think

I'm getting some hits already on this . :D
Wonderful news ~~~

I'm with you, I don't do thread, so whatever one I do will be in WW yarn. The floral overlay is beautiful. That'd be such a showpiece and something really special to show your husband when he gets back home. It'd be beautiful in yellow flowers. What other color would you use for the background color and the leaf color ?
Not to be nosey, but is your husband in the military ?

Yep, I added some more links.. I like the chocolate dreams too, and also the popcorn bedspread, so one of those will be my choice. I'm leaning towards the chocolate one, but done in aran probably ,unless I run across another color that strikes my fancy . I thought Aran would match anything that way .

I looked up your pattern- that would also be stunning ! I really like the way the design swirls like that . It'll be beautiful done in yarn and a LOT less work . I certainly admire anyone who could make an entire bedspread out of thread .

I'm not sure yet. I know I want to use yellow for the flower and Aran for the background. Just need to decide on a nice green color.

No, he is a truck driver. They are sending him to NJ on Sunday to pick up his new truck. Then we don't know where he is going. This is a new job for him. Other than him going away for training, we have never really been apart. So I am just sad, something we have to get used too. What makes it even harder is that the kids leave on Friday to go to Michigan for the holidays. They won't be home untill after New Years. So it is going to be VERY quiet in my house. Just me and my kitties. I know most people enjoy all the quiet, but........... I will miss everyone. So I guess I will be able to get a lot of crocheting done.

Well, Melissa
I wish him luck with his new job, and you luck adjusting to his being gone. I have a cousin married to a truck driver and he is gone a lot too . She tries to keep really busy with their daughter's school functions and volunteering for a lot of things .
This project may just be the ticket to keep you busy . It's always nice to settle on a new project ,because it is so exciting to pick out the pattern, the yarn and get started to see how it will look .
This should give you a big goal to work towards and maybe keep your mind busy . I hope so :manyheart

I haven't joined a CAL in awhile and so I'll join. I think I will crochet a bedspread for the queen sized bed in my five year old daughter's room. Of course, It will HAVE to be pink! I really liked the first link you posted JulieKay the Rose Bower bedspread. Like most of you, I'll be doing it out of good old worsted weight yarn. If I did it out of thread I would have to give it to her as a college graduation gift!:eek Can't wait to get started. I was just at Joann's today, oh darn, I'll just have to go back to buy some yarn.:devil

Ok, I am going with the Flower overlay for sure. I showed it to hubby and he likes it a lot. So I have picked. YEAH!! I am using a yellow for the flower, Aran for the border and a dark green. Maybe Dark Sage ???? I think I have enough Aran on hand so I won't need to buy that color. And I may have some yellow. I will have to look. If don't I will be going shopping soon. :D

Julie, wow:yay I didnt know you had found so many patterns. I found it hard to decide which one to do, but I think I have settled on the rose bower bedspread. My colors will be cream, dark pink and green. I just have to get the wool now.
Is everyone going to do these patterns in wool(yarn) and if so what size hook are you all using. I thought I would do this in a H Hook but not sure.
Im glad to see so many people that want to do a bedspread.
Hello to you all.
Julie have you decided which one to do.

December 16th, 2006, 07:31 AM
Good morning, ladies !
It sounds like you are all making some decisions regarding patterns and colors. I can't wait to see some of the flower squares made up. I like the floral overlay plus the rose bower- they would both make really beautiful bedspreads and everyone's colors sound pretty too .
I will probably be going with ..........................hmmmmm. I thought I had my mind made up SORTA . I had it narrowed down to 2 ,but added a third one to the list. I like the chocolate dreams one a lot , but I also have been eyeing the popcorn bedspread pattern for a couple YEARS ,so it rates pretty high to me too, and I think the Spiral bedspread is just totally stunning looking . What a dilemma ... decisions, decisions ... Maybe I should try out each pattern to see which one seems do-able. The spiral one is SO pretty, but it may be pretty hard to do, not sure .
I know I am using aran and have bought all the store had ( which won't be enough, so will have to gather up some more when they get more in)
That will be another thing we will have to figure out as we go , for those choosing a thread pattern and switching it to yarn, is the amounts needed . It's a good thing a lot of yarn is no dye lot, that way, we can get more if needed .
Melissa
I am very excited to see your colors. I have been eyeing the yellow for a long time trying to figure out what I could make with it or what color would go with it, so I'll be anxious to see yours come to life !
Heather - you sound like me, I have wanted to make a bedspread FOREVER , but thread is not an option to me. I am just not good working with it . We'll see that you stay on task here and egg each other on, ok ?
Wendy and KnicKnac- it sounds like you two will be possibly doing the same one, so you'll have a work-along companion if you get stuck . :)
Knic--- As far as the buying yarn ..hmmm .. maybe you could say you deserve it . You have been a good girl this year . Ask Santa to get it for you . :D

KnicKnac- I here what you are saying. I'm trying to use up my stash too. But if I'm going to make a bedspread I need to buy yarn. I don't have enough to make one.
I'm thinking about trying to do the bedspread in a lighter weight yarn. Either baby or sport weight. I'm concerned about how heavy the bedspread might feel because it will be a queen sized one.
JulieKay- the big challenge for me will be to figure out how much yarn to buy. I'm thinking that I'll weight the skein of yarn before using it, make a few squares, and then weight the skein again. Then I'll be able to figure out how many ounces of yarn each square takes. Or maybe I'll just guess. Math has never been my strong point.:blush

December 16th, 2006, 08:31 AM
Can I ask what size hook everyone is going to use.
I also am not sure how much yarn I will need. I have started a ripple ghan for my grandma for xmas. Yes I know Im leaving it rather late. Im using caron simply soft yarn that was given to me by my FGM and I love it, but we dont get it here in OZ so I guess it will be acrylic.
I was going to make my main color cream with pink flowers but my bedroom is mainly cream. I think I should really go with a marone color and have cream
flowers. Do you think this would look ok or would it be too much dark red.
judianne
December 16th, 2006, 08:38 AM
As the title says, that's the pattern I'm going with. It's lacy, so the underlying comforter can show through...which is why I'll make it in either ecru or light sage. My room has tones of both. I'm leaning toward the ecru - in case the color scheme changes by the time I finish it... LOL. It's lacy and pretty.:c9
Now to measure my bed for 12 inch squares and take my birthday money to Michael's and look for inspiration - I may change the color to one completely different if something catches my eye!
Thanks for the idea, Julie!:clap

I personally love marroon...it's a good anchor for the pink...IMHO, anyway!:hook

December 16th, 2006, 10:02 AM
Karin - well, another idea might be to make as many squares as possible with one skein, then you'll know how many more you need based on that. The lighter weight yarn would be nice too, and would probably go further, do you think, since it's lighter weight but probably more yardage ? I'm not much of a math genius myself . :lol
Wendy- I'll be using an H hook also -- how about staggering the colors of the flowers-- have the cream background, then do one square with a pink flower and the next with a maroon, that way you'll have both colors in the flowers . Just an idea . :)
Judi- I'm glad you settled on a choice. Let us know how the shopping adventure goes and what you come home with !

December 16th, 2006, 02:21 PM
I am probably going to use an "h" hook, it's the only one I have in the clover brand and it's perfect for doing long projects! :lol
I am trying to wrap this bower pattern around in my head. Color coordination has never been my strong suit but I have decided I don't want all the plain squares to be just one color, I would like a variety.
What do you all think? A two or three alternating pattern, but the flower motif being the same no matter what? Do you think that would look strange?
I am giving myself permission to buy yarn. I don't OFTEN make things for myself, and something like this is more of a necessity than a want. I would have had to buy a new bedspread anyway, KWIM???

I agree that it might not make the best use of your pattern if you bring in too many colours to compete with your central floral motif. I could see different colours for the flowers - that could be really pretty.
To each his own of course but it would be a shame to do all that and then hate it...

Just a suggestion - if you like lots of color, why not make the background in one plain type color like white or whatever you choose, then do each flower in a different color-- that will add lots more color to it if you don't want it to look too plain .
Gina- welcome in - after Christmas is just fine !

Morning Julie, Im looking forward to doing this one. I am still deciding what wool to use. I really want to use Caron simply soft and have seen it on ebay but Im not sure how much wool we will need for a bedspread and if I get it off ebay I wont get the total wool I need with the same dyelot. Mum said to just go with the acrylic wool you can buy cheap at the shop as its going to cost a bit to make a queen size bedspread.
JulieKay
December 17th, 2006, 11:13 AM
Morning Wendy -
Well, that is gonna be the challenge with this one, since most of the bedspread patterns call for the thread rather than yarn .It would probably be best to try it out with yarn you can get easily ,at least til you know how far one skein will get you . I am working on my first square today , to see how many squares I'll be able to get out of one skein, and how many I'll need to make a bedspread to fit our bed . The square turns out 12 inches, so once it is done, I'll make sure that's what mine is, then measure across and down to see how many squares total it will take . We have a double bed, so it won't be too bad. A queen or king would take a lot more I bet !
I at least have a picture in my head of how I want this to look and bought most all the stuff I'll need today (hopefully ) . I may need more background color. I got 9 skeins ( all they had ), so once I get the first used up and do some measuring, I'll be able to see how many squares I can get from one, and how many total squares needed .
This has been a fun one to fiddle with . I think it'll be pretty if it turns out like the picture in my head . :lol
There's one more thing I need to figure out for the pattern, but it will be the final edging I use around the entire thing, so that's a ways down the road yet. Plenty of time to figure that out !

I'm in a quandry about this. A bedspread would be nice. I like KK's idea of going with TLC cotton plus (although I'd have to order it, since I've never seen it in any store here), since I live in the deep south, where it's HOT 363 days out of the year. No idea yet on color, although I'm leaning toward something neutral that will go with me as I change my mind about the colors of my bedroom.
As for pattern, I'm not a huge fan of the florals, and because I live in the deep South, where it's HOT 364 days of the year, I'd like something light and lacy. I think I'll have to search some more for the perfect pattern...

Here's another link, i'm not sure if it was put up already. I don't remeber seeing it but I could be wrong. I like the ribbon coverlet, not much to it but different looking (included the link, 2nd one). I haven't picked a color for mine yet. I usually don't do that until I go into the store & see what calls me. I think i'm still going with the spiral one but we'll see.

Wow, Tabby
That one is certainly different and it's definitely light-weight ! It'd probably be really pretty with the right yarn . I can't imagine using that here for a bedspread. You'd freeze your petunias off . :lol

Morning everyone, do I have to go to work this morning. I would rather stay home.
Julie - I like how you are sorting out your pattern and sizing up. I have never thought to do that. Im going to go to my local shop and buy the wool maybe on saturday but I would have to go early as the shops will be so crowded. I think Im still going to go with cream as the main color.
Tabby - Have you decided on the spiral one or still deciding.

Wow! Its great to see so many people joining in on this one. I am planning to go shopping tomorrow. I do need to get some yarn for this one. I don't have the right color yellow, or the right color green. Mine needs to be big enough to fit a queen size bed. I plan to use Red Heart yarns for this project. :) My husband is on his way to NJ.... So I will have time to work on this; this week while the kids are in school. They leave Friday to go to Michigan for Christmas. And we are praying my husbnad will be home in time for Christmas. If not I guess I'll spend my day crocheting.
Tabby what pattern are you doing? Did you decide?
Julie, how about you??? Did you pick out a pattern yet??

Just a reminder that you can find good motif patterns in more places than just the bedspreads or tablecloth sections.
Here is a motif that would probably not be too warm but is really pretty

I went to Joann's today to try to decide on my yarn. I'll be doing the Rose Bower Bedspread for a queen sized bed. I had my 8 year old and my 5 year old daughters with me. The older one is fine. But the younger one. Grrr! :angry First she was trying to get every free pattern there was hanging off of the yarn aisles for me. Then she decided that she was too tired to hold them and so would I hold them for her. Then she was too hot with her poncho on and so would I hold that for her. Then she was just too tired, period. So she lay right down on the floor in the yarn aisle. I kept having to step over her. But at least she wasn't moving and she was quiet. I picked two different colors of TLC baby yarn to try some sample squares with. One is powder pink and the other one is called rocking horse. Rocking horse is a varigated color with pink, purple, green and white. I didn't want to do the background and the plain squares of the afghan in white. It seems like whenever I make an afghan the background is always white. But now I'm thinking that this will be way too much pink in the afghan. The whole background will be pink and then the flowers will be pink too, just in a darker shade of pink. Now my daughters like pink, but this might be going too far. I'll have to do a few squares and see.

Tabby,
I really, really like the pattern that you picked (:manyheart). I was going to pick it too because it is very pretty (:c9) but not too girly for my hubby. But this line (following GAUGE) made me decide to pass it by: "For single size spread about 74 x 108 inches, make 11 x 16 motifs; for double size spread about 94 x 108 inches, make 14 x 16 motifs." The GAUGE info describes each motif as 6 and 1/4 inches in diameter.
Still a bit rusty at reading instructions - :think.

A rich wine colour would go well with your Spanish - still one of my fave styles btw.
It would also provide lively interest with Sage green creating a complementary colour scheme.

I agree that it might not make the best use of your pattern if you bring in too many colours to compete with your central floral motif. I could see different colours for the flowers - that could be really pretty.
To each his own of course but it would be a shame to do all that and then hate it...
I made twin size coverlet years ago, using this same idea...scraps made up the flowers in the middle, but the rest of each hexagon was white as was the entire border. It looks pretty - and not too busy.:hook

I did a sample square for the plain motif square from the rose bower bedspread. I'm not sure about this TLC baby yarn in rocking horse. I think it makes the bedspread too busy looking. And the colors are a bit too bright and too juvenile looking (if you know what I mean, too little girl looking). Of course I am making it for a 5 year old girls bedroom. I want the bedspread to be something she'll use for a long time. I'm also thinking that I don't want to do the plain motif in a pale pink. There will just be too much pink in the room then. I think another trip back to Joann's is needed. But I'm not up to it yet.

So, have you decided on a colour?
I told my DH that I found the pattern and that I was going to make one for our bed, but we haven't decided on a color yet. I was thinking a deep red. My Grandma made it in an Aran. I need to talk to my DH again and see what color he wants to do also. We just moved into a new house and we haven't decided on what color we want to do our bedroom in. I thought about Caron One Pound Claret....hmmm DH said that I could use any color I want. I saw that yarn the other day at Joann's and wanted to use it for something. Our sheets are a chocolate color though. Do you think that that would look okay together? It says that the squares are 12 inches when did with yarn, so it looks like I will need 8-9x8 so 64-72 squares. I will have to see how much overhang that I will need.

:lol Obviously you love red like I do. I was also thinking about doing a blue with the brown sheets, but I think that the red will make the popcorns pop better. I wonder how much yarn I will need for this project. Unfortunately it was originally done in thread and they tell you how big the squares will be if you use yarn and what size hook to use, but they don't tell you how much yarn you will need. They just tell you how much thread you will need. Hmmm, I also need to decide if I want to double strand it so that it will be thick and heavy. I guess I will have to do a sample square and see.

What can I say, I am a risk taker....haven't decided yet if I dare to do it in thread or cheat myself by doing in WW. If it is done in thread, I am definitely going to use a red color, something like Claret or Cardinal. If its in WW...I am going to use the same colors I did for the Giant Granny Square Afghan CAL, the Dark Orchid, Orchid and Aran. The reason why I asked is because I used to live in London, Woodstock and Ingersoll. Even spent a year up north in Peterborough. I really liked the Niagara Falls area....was thinking about living in St. Catherines but my husband died so I went back to Montana.

If anyone is still looking for a square to use, might I suggest this fabulous butterfly motif/square that would be really, really pretty done in various colours and vari's.

This has been designed by our own Ro and deserves lots of attention as it is really neat. Could be used with some of the floral motifs here to great effect.

It's just frustrating Wendy to have something in your mind and you can translate it to crochet.
I drew a picture:
http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h136/KnicKnac/th_sample-square.gif (http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h136/KnicKnac/sample-square.gif)
It's a crude rendition of a bedspread that I have had and I LOVED, but it couldn't hold up to this family - I had the grand idea to try to duplicate it but in crochet - not gonna happen! So I like Julie's idea of the flower and leaf.
:lol
Here is my square so far:

I plan on using a pattern from the 63 square booklet for the square (#47 Ripple Stitch) and I have decided to use TLC Essentials in Medium Thyme - I am planning on making quite a thick border - maybe about two inches or so between squares - I am now just trying to decide on how many flowers to place on the thing. Should I go symetrical and put four in each corner, or should I go five, one in each corner and one in the middle?
What do ya'll think???

Knicknac you could use that climbing flower on one side of each square but then place the squares so it looks like one continual flower and you could make your own flowerpot on the bedspread. does that make sense.

Ok, I have started my first square. Although me and the pattern had a misunderstanding and I had to frog part of it. But I am back on track now. I am using the same size hook as the designer, but mine is going to be larger than a 12 inch square. I guess that is ok though. Will mean a few less squares to make I guess. I think once I put them all together I will border the entire bedspread with a round of the pale yellow and a round of the light sage. We'll see though. I may change my mind. :)
Hope everyone is else is coming along well with the start of there bedspreads or finding the perfect pattern and colors.

Julie,
Thanks for the reply. I checked the view option and, unfortunately, VIEW IMAGES was already checked. So, if this is OK and my browser values are OK (they agree with what Amy thinks they should be), I'm not sure what's going on. For example, I couldn't see KnickKnac's drawing or pix.
I'm not a newbie with computers but I'm not a tech guru either. It's just kinda' frustrating to not be able to see everyone's pictures (:(). That's one of the great parts of being here at the 'Ville - seeing what everyone is working on and how you all create such beauty. Oh well, I'll keep searching for an answer to this. Meanwhile, I need to decide on which design I want to use for a bedspread. At least that's a happy dilemma (:)).

Hi Gang- this place was hopping overnight !
Jewel - I am trying to remember without leafing back through a lot of posts, but I think you are making the popcorn square ? It has some added directions on it-- apparently the person who posted it made the squares in yarn -- her print is in italics regarding yarn used and number of squares.
Hope that will help you some . The dark red sounds nice ~ Can't wait to see a square done in it .
I went back and looked to see if I missed something, but unfortunately they give how much of the thread you would need, but they don't convert how much ww you would need. They convert everything else...i.e. hook and size of square, but not the yarn. Oh well I guess I will just have to do my own rough estimate. I decided to go with Claret and I went looking at yarn today, but I will not be able to buy any until after Christmas. Thanks for your help.

How about one flower in the middle and one or two leaves in each corner so when you put the squares together it'll have a pattern within a pattern if you could picture what I mean. Sort of like tiles that when you lay them together you see another pattern on the corners. Just MO. What do you think?

So, I've been working on these thread coasters for a friend of mine. Each one takes 2 hours to make, and I'm making her 8. I've completed 6, and then they'll need to be blocked.
To take my mind off thread, I decided to make a toddler sized scrap afghan, making hexagonal grannies in lots of wild colors. That'll be for Project Linus. It's something I've wanted to do for a while, and each of those grannies works up fast.
So, no telling when I'll ever get started on this...

What about using the motif from the Butterfly Shawl CAL for your bedspread? it is light and lacy and not a flower

Morning gang
Just thought it was time for an update to see how everyone is doing ? I now have 4 squares made, but only one has the flower on it ,so I have to make them to put on each one . I am very happy with the pattern I chose. The squares are so easy, I already have the pattern memorized, so it's just a matter of staying on task now to make a LOT more . I am guessing it may take 56 -
I am also kicking around a different idea where it wouldn't take as many squares, but it'd take some designing ability, which I have NONE .
I'll keep you all updated to see what I come up with .
I hope you all have found a pattern you like . The big day will soon be here, then life should calm down and we can all get a better start on this .

Morning Julie!
I have just the one square finished. I am trying to get some other stuff finished up first. I'll work on it more after Christmas. I am almost halfway done with a sweater for my DH. I can't believe how easy it is so far.(BUT, I havn't gotten to thesleeves yet. So this could change. :lol this will only be the 2ndsweater I have made. The first one I did was for my daughter. I posted picures at my blog of Kyra's sweater. I also psted a picture of my progress on DH's sweater. But I have worked on it a lot since then. Hmm..... wonder if I can get this done in time for Christmas.:hook

Mel - those are pretty I started this one last January in thread. I lost patience. I had intentions of making spreads for my mom and my mil for xmas this year but it drove me nuts to do it in thread so i gave up lol. Yours are great.

I have been considering your requirements for a while and hoping that something would present itself as a possible for you as I like to have lots of victims um er participants in the CAL's ...
What about using the motif from the Butterfly Shawl CAL for your bedspread? it is light and lacy and not a flower

I couldn't find the motif you're talking about on the website.

I got bored one day and decided to use the lighter green to add some kind of affect. I think I did good...I just love the color green

I'm sorry, I thought that you had been part of that Butterfly Shawl CAL so that you would have the pattern for the motif.
Oh well, maybe another open butterfly pattern will come along. sorry 'bout that Chief :wlol

After sitting amidst a pile of pattern books today I at least know one thing: the BS is going to be a deep wine/burgandy. Only one color. I've seen 3 patterns that look good: one with large squares:D (nearly 8") ...shown in white:P...not with :dog :dog !!
...another is a sampler afghan I can make bigger (no boredom there - all different patterns for the squares:D )
...the other is a simple swirl type pattern with a small flower in the center of each, nearly 9" motif. The latter is the one I'm leaning toward because of it's softer, less structured design.
King size bed, Mediterranean furniture...no "country" in sight;)
Anyone want to chime in? Structured design or free-flowing? :think
I've made progress...at least I have the BS narrowed down to a choice between 3 designs!!:yay

Hi Melissa
Thanks for the link to the sweater. That is really pretty and a great color for a little girl. Does she know you were making it for her or is it a surprise ? And does it zip up the front ? I thought it kinda looked like it did. If so, was it hard putting the zipper in ?
Wow, Mel- those are just LOVELY . You were asking us yesterday what to do , since you had so many things in the works. It'd sure be a shame to waste all that work and such beautiful squares. I vote that you keep working on this one-- it will make a BEAUTIFUL bedspread .
Andrea- if you like the pattern, maybe you and Mel could work along together on it in yarn, maybe then it wouldnt be such a daunting job .
Judi -well, without seeing the patterns and knowing the color you are using, I'd lean away from the sampler one only because usually with real dark colors, the stitches don't show as well to full affect .
If you choose to do the one with the flowers, would they also be in the burgundy or another color ?

Hi Julie, thanks for keeping us on our toes!
I have decided on the square, how it's going to be put together, what border it will have, just not completely sold on what is going on the top of the square.
Going on vacation on Saturday for a week so will be busy with that, so I officially wont start until the 1st for sure. That's if my LYS has the yarn I need!!!
I will have internet connection where I am going and my laptop, just not alot of time to spend online. But I promise, I will keep in touch!

I really liked the look of the Rose Bower Square so I decided to try one with bits of leftovers
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b121/lenedar/rosebower.jpg
The real problem with this square is the HUGE holes where the leaves and the granny section come together. I don't think I would go with this one after all. The floral overlay might just be possible though because...
My square elegance spread - the first 10 rows are here:

This is too short for the bed. (It is done lengthwise) Ihave to decide whether I can add in a segment when I get past the front drop section to cover the end OR I have to rip out all that I have done and start over.
I hate starting over. I have a tendency to just scrap the whole thing if I rip out. :sigh
The colour is a warm cream and not really yellow.

Hi Everyone, sorry I havent been on. I had a bad headache last night so went to bed early.
Mel thanks for the photos of the rose bower square. Now that I have seen it, as pretty as it it and your squares are beautiful I dont think I want to do it. I agree with Darski the wholes are too big by the leaves. Now Im going to have to look for something else. Mel I think you should continue with it though, it would look great.
At least its friday and the last day of work before the weekend. Today we are having a breakfast at work then at lunch my work is putting on lunch before some speeches and then its hometime... yah
Julie have you decided what you are going to do. Are you going with that square and putting the flowers on them.

Sorry to hear about your head. I have those cracking headaches too. NO FUN . Hope you are feeling better now .
Yea, I'm gonna go with the square I posted. I now have 4 made .
Well, darski - I'm gonna vote against the rest of you and say the square is BEEOOOTEEEFUUUL . I love it .Why couldn't you use it and just have some type of solid color blanket underneath it so the pattern would show up ?
Your other one is pretty too. I hope you can figure out a way to make it work .

I have had a small change. I am going to add some plain squares to my BS. Talked to DH about it and he likes that idea.(he's still in NJ) I think I will need a total of 56 squares for this. Now to decide on what pattern to use for the plain square. I think just a granny would be good. I don't want to take away from the floral square.

Pat~The pattern is from a Leisure Art Leaflet called "Bouquet of Afghans". I believe it's something my Mom bought me way back when, lol.
As for me, i've done NOTHING productive today. It's my Hubbys day off & I seem to not do much when he's here. :lol
Don't have that and no way to get it here on the Island. So I guess I'll have to find something like that to do.:(
