Does anyone know of any German doily patterns? Or table runner patterns that are 'German'? I can't read German, (at all), but I am looking for something that would *look* German; or be German style, if that makes any sense... :think I want to make a table runner or doily for my SIL and her new husband (who is from Germany). They travel back there every year and have everything. So I wanted to make something special, if you know what I mean.... (Something for the couple with everything or who can buy everything...) :blush

Thanks in advance if anyone can help!! :hug

I found this site (http://www.hassdesign.com/FiletCrochetDesigns/IP/FreePatterns/)(hass designs)? I think that is German. Still looking...

Well I found german doilies here http://www.yarnover.net/patterns/doilies/beyer/index.html but unfortunately they are all knitted. And the sites I found on german doilies, all of them were knit patterns..... maybe part of the german style is that they are knitted? im still looking though, so maybe i'll find something better.

on this site, the one in the UPPER RIGHT looks like one of the ones on the site i posted before http://www.angelfire.com/folk/celtwich/FiveRound.html

and so does this one http://www.angelfire.com/folk/celtwich/Garland.html

hope that helps.

:eek :clap Thank you, Monael!! I have been searching the internet since I posted this, and haven't found hardly anything. :hug That is a cool site. Thanks! :manyheart

Oh, and thank you Ada, you must have been posting that while I was posting mine. :lol I've been noticing the pinwheel a lot in German doilies so far. I have never knitted a doily before... :eek On dpns? :faint That would be a true heirloom wedding present... :)

Are either of you German? (Just out of curiousity...) I am part German, but it isn't helping me find German doily patterns. :lol

Monael, did you see this page (http://www.lib.ndsu.nodak.edu/grhc/history_culture/textile/textilescollection.html#died1)? It has lots of old doilies that people brought in. Very cool. Lots of the pinwheel design, too. (I love history, too; and antiques.)

Those are beautiful patterns. What a fascinating link. I do like the star in the snowflake and also the poinsettia.

Thanks so much everyone for all your help. Those sites are so interesting- it's like going to a crochet museum, online! I love it. :manyheart

Hello,

I purchased (auction on e-bay)and bought several German doily pattern magazines, They all have diagrams, dont need to know language.

They are Hakelmaschen (filetkakeln) has round, mini, big, square all kind of doilies made with fine threads and several thecniques.

Another one is Burda special crochet/lace issues,

I think another one is Anna,
ANother one is Dianna (I am not sure about the name of this one)

I see them sometimes listed on e-bay.

I hope it helps a little
