I use Haloscan for comments on my blog, and it has not been working right last 3 or so days. <img border=0 src="http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/frown.gif" /> My blog takes longer loading time because of the problem, and I am really disturbed by it. I know some other crochet blog owners are experiencing the same problem. I am thinking about switching to some other commenting service. Any recommendation? Thank you Chelle <img border=0 src="http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/smile.gif" /> I cannot even access Haloscan home page so I really wonder. <img border=0 src="http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/tired.gif" /> It would be helpful if they send an email to all the haloscan users to let us know about the problem they are having. If they are trying to solve it, they sure are taking much time to do so. I miss all the nice comments from fellow crocheters... <img border=0 src="http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/frown.gif" />

It seems to come and go for me, Chie. More often though I have it than I don't. I think about changing it but then I'm used to it now. One of these days I may.

I understand Julie. <img border=0 src="http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/smile.gif" /> I thought about just waiting for it to be normal again because I really hate that I will lose all the comments if I switch. But I just figured out something, and well... I already made my move. <img border=0 src="http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/tongue.gif" /> I went to blogger.com after my last post here, and I figured that the blogger.com started their comment tool! So I've enabled the function on my blog already.
I am not sure though if my decision of switching to blogger comment tool because I feel that haloscan is simpler and more friendly to visitors. <img border=0 src="http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/indifferent.gif" />

I was doing a little work on my blog today and my Haloscan commenting worked about 10% of the time, so I think I'm going to try out the blogger.com commenting. I hate to lose my comments, but I want to be able to get more comments. :frog

I think the blogger comment tool is OK. :)
I hope the haloscan solve their problem soom so that I will be able to leave my comments on other blogs that use haloscan.
OK Tiff, I am going to your blog see if I can leave a comment! <img border=0 src="http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/smile.gif" />

I have just figured that the blogger comment tool lets only blogger members leave comments. <img border=0 src="http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/tired.gif" /> If someone is not, it requires the person to get the membership... I wonder if that is a nice thing...<img border=0 src="http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/eyes.gif" />
Should I just stay with Haloscan and see what will happen? Maybe. I just don't know... Urgh.<img border=0 src="http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/frown.gif" />

Non-Blogger members can leave comments. Chie, go into your Blogger settings and make sure you have it set to allow everyone to leave comments. I believe there are three settings to choose from -- the whole world, only Blogger members, and one other more restrictive one I can't remember.
I have checked out Blogger comments and will be staying with Haloscan for now. I'm not happy with the Haloscan downtime, but I am going to wait it out. I'm not impressed with Blogger comments, although it will probably get better as time goes on.

I tried the blogger comments for about 60 minutes. Not happy. There is no email address that I can reply to if someone leaves a comment, and I like doing that! So, even though it caused me nightmares of problems this evening to turn the darn thing on, I'm going to try to put Haloscan back up again.
Wish me luck. :(

Good luck, Julie! :hug
No e-mail address, and also comments can't be edited, only deleted. And if you delete, there will be a little note (where the comment once was) saying that the comment was deleted. From the Blogger comments FAQ:
"Also note that after a comment is deleted, it will be replaced with the text, " This post has been removed by the author." This is in case later comments refer to a comment that has been deleted."
I think I am a big girl and can decide whether I want to delete a comment or not without being forced to show that it was deleted, thank you very much. >:

At least one thing worked out okay for me this evening! No problems switching it back, thank goodness! Now I can walk away from the computer with nothing major wrong with the blog, and fix the little things that still need fixing tomorrow. I hope. :eek

Thanks Donna <img border=0 src="http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/smile.gif" /> Yes, you are right, the blogger tool gives you those choices. I remember myself setting it up now when I switched. <img border=0 src="http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/tongue.gif" />
I have to agree with you, Donna and Julie. I am not happy with blogger tool now. I guess I lack patience <img border=0 src="http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/tongue.gif" /> I am now have three things on my mind; 1)not havingĀ@comment links for now so my blog loads quickly. 2)keep the blogger comment tool. 3) Switching to YACCS.
I am not going to try to move fast this time though. Thank you all <img border=0 src="http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/smile.gif" />

I am trying <a href="http://www.blogextra.com/backblog/" target="_new">backblog</a> for my *newly added* comment tool on my blog. I couldn't figure out how to put it after every blog entry, so I put it on a sidebar (maybe someone else can figure that out!). I don't know whether it's good or bad yet, just another resource!

Michelle, the take the script html they give you and put it after your blog posts tags, but before the </ > tag for your posts...Im not sure what the tags are for diaryland. I put mine right after the time, but I dont see that on yours. Try putting it before your bar that seperates your posts. OR, you can email me the tags that start your posts, down to your bar, and I will see if I can help ya out!

Yes Julie, tomorrow Hubby will be in Japan and we are going to be back in the States on 18th! Hubby and I have chatted everyday on the computer and talked on the phone a lot, but this is our first time to see each other in one and a half years! I am excited about uniting my family again and one of the crochetalongs here I am going to join when I settle down in the States.

I figured that YACCS is no longer accepting new member. Thanks Michelle for the link to "backblog", I will check it. <img border=0 src="http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/smile.gif" />

Chie, that is wonderful. I'm so glad you'll be able to be with your husband again. I can't imagine being apart for such a long time. <img border=0 src="http://img28.photobucket.com/albums/v84/crochetville/woohoo2.gif" />
