This is my first attempt EVER at reading a pattern!! Can you believe I have been crocheting for over 4 years and never learned!?! I said this year I wanted to learn so I wouldn't keep winging it and LOOKIE!!! I also tried this Casewww.sarahanns.com/crochetworks/case.html (http://www.sarahanns.com/crochetworks/case.html)
Here is the front if the case. I beaded the flower on the front.

Anyway I'm pretty proud as I just taught myself to read patterns two nights ago. :bow

WOW!!! it is terrific. I have never made a hook case...but now I think I will. I can give them to my daughters who have just learned to crochet.:clap great job!!

are the hooks held really firmly? I've wondered if they might slip out?

I've made SEVERAL of these. They are soooo much fun!!! Everyone should have one! the hooks are in firmly and mine NEVER fall out. It holds pretty much EVERYHTING for me.
You did a GREAT job for just learning to read a pattern. Great colors!!!!!!

Oh thanks everone! Your comments and praise mean so much to me!! I was all excited to get up this morning and check what everyone thought of it. :cloud9 I rang my sister and she said she wants one for her Birthday next month!

Congrats on learning to read a pattern.
Here is a tip to help you with your pattern reading.
When you come to a part that is or seems difficult, :th take pen and paper and write down the row. It takes a while if you have a lot of stitches, but it sure helps.
Sometimes you have to see it all in order to make it clear. :ideanot

I was so grateful when CraftyChristine took the time to teach me how to read patterns, and understand the directions on unusual stitches as well. I know I was incredibly excited when I learned - a whole new world was opened up for me! I can't wait to see what else you accomplish with your newfound skill!
