i made this to be used for my "pay it forward (http://p084.ezboard.com/fcrochetvillefrm62.showMessageRange?topicID=2.topi c&start=41&stop=60)" pot.

DOH! - guess i should include the picture :oops

it is Marlo's pattern (http://www.marloscrochetcorner.com/blog/index.php?cat=4)

:D! i used LB woolspun. to keep the bottom a little more sturdy, i ran a length of copper beading wire through the 'blo' round of the bottom.

i'd really like it to be a little stiffer... any suggestions? :thinking2

Well You Know What They Say, Rebecca "GREAT MINDS THINK ALIKE"

I've made two of these and I use one of mine to keep the names of the RAOK members for my pay it forward. Hhmmmm, are you in my head?

To get mine stiff: I used two strands held together (if one is bulky weight, use a second in ww or sport w.) Then, I soaked mine in liquid starch and squeezed it out and shaped it and sat it in the sun to dry.

Love the blue, by the way. These pots are awesome and so is Marlo for coming up with such a great design!!

dawn - straight liquid starch? no dilution?

how long did you soak it????

it's already done in just 1 strand... thick/think.... do you think it will still work?

Yep, straight starch, no dilution:eek . I do my doilies this way, too. It doesn't leave it as stiff and you may think--just adds body. No residue either.

I just squash it around in the starch until all the fibers are coated then squeeze it out and reshape it. It does take awhile to dry so you could blowdry it if you wanted.

Even though yours is one strand I think it would still work okay. :))

I use Sta-Flo concentrated liquid starch, by the way

I crocheted mine over clothesline to make it stiffer. You can see a pic and read about it here (http://www.yarntomato.com/2004/05/marlos-prayer-pot.html). Not that that helps you much, Rebecca, since yours is already made. :p
