I've seen this pattern somewhere, but I can't remember.

Even seen it as a baby blanket....

My co-worker asked me to make her one.

Anyone can tell me the book it might be in???
Thanks!
Cookie

OH - I didn't even think of that pattern, which I've done in a different pattern - called Tumbling blocks. I was going to suggest just doing solid squares, trimmed in black and assembled.

Here is a blog that has it... or something similar... The baby one might do (I think that was the one I was thinking of) but she wants it done it Single Crochet rows... not too lacey... make sense??

You guys are so awesome! I'm pretty sure the pattern is the "tumbling Blocks"

I hope I can find it from here!

I haven't learned to crochet in graft, but I know there are lots of knit patterns out there for those...

Thanks again everyone!!!

its based on the traditional patchwork pattern, baby or tumbling blocks
if my first suggestion (above)was too lacy then this one only has a drawing, but is in a denser stitch
http://home.wideopenwest.com/~sag55/bblock.html

as in patchwork, the important thing is to use one light , one dark and one medium tone , to get the 3d effect.

There's one exactly like this in Herschner's Blue Ribbon Afghans Book, and it is done in sc. Called "Tumbling Blocks".

Well.... what I was looking for was more like that first picture, Gail, but I used the "Diamond" pattern from the Herrschner's Blue Ribbon book and made a sample square.

This pattern was SO easy!!! These are not the colors, though, she wants it done in 3 shades of teal and a varigated, AND big enought for a a California King with some hanging over the edge!!!

Oh, my what have I got myself into!

WOW!! A king size? Look at my geocities home page - I did the tumbling block in purples. Mine came from Annie's Attic folder. But the same or simlar pattern is in your book. I suggest putting together the 3 colors in a block first, then assemble it. I can be confusing - the layout. I know I goofed one square when I did mine as I was going. Good luck with it and be sure to post a picture!

looks great CookieH, :clap and I'm so glad you found what you needed
Beaglelady's right though:yes , its better to put each "cube " together as you go, I once had to dismantle an entire TB patchwork quilt because I made a mistake near the middle, not a happy moment:(
be sure to post piccies when you are finished:yay

Eugene - VERY cool! Another option is to use the Prairie Star diamond and join it as you go. I have a baby afghan link like that, too. http://www.*********************/free-patterns/Baby-Blocks-LW1299.pdf
