And if I had the energy I would be jumping up and down. :clap
I finished one sock for my 6 year old and she decided she wants to wear them to church on Sunday...so I GOTTA finish the second one. I am so excited that I crocheted a sock. I like the way it turned out too! I made a short cuff as I was anxious to finish...this is a toe up pattern.

Fabulous Kimberly! What yarn is that? I've been so nervous to try the self-striping yarns, now I want to know so I can give it a try myself. :danc

Love the colors! Isn't it rewarding when your child loves what you make them so much? =) :cloud9 Kids are hard to please sometimes heheh so when I manage to please mine, I'm thrilled ;)

Thanks all for your comments. They are really inspiring me to keep getting projects done. :clap
The yarn I used is a sock yarn called JAWOLL by Lang yarns. I bought it about 2 years ago maybe???? and it's been in my stash. Thought I would try it before getting any of the new stuff out there.
Well, of course, I told my daddy that I was making socks for youngest girlie girl and would need more yarn when I was done as oldest girlie girl was not so patiently waiting for hers. My daddy being the daddy he is, went to the fabric store and asked the ladies there for sock yarn and he showed up with 4 skeins of Magic Stripes last night so I would be sure to make something for all the kids. Isn't he a great daddy :grouphug
Now with my kiddos all being adopted through foster care in the last 2 years, they LOVE anything mommy makes for them....and adore the special attention..... so...I gotta get to work

My oldest wants black and green socks...anyone know of a good source for striping sock yarn with greens and black? Couldn't find any at my local Michael's or Hancock Fabrics which are my only choices. I have no LYS :cry
I think I am hooked and will be making MY pair starting shortly....after I play outside with the kiddos that is.

What shade of green? Do they have to be self-striping or just green and black?
Here's a green and black self-striping colorway I like in Regia 6 ply (http://www.fuzzymabel.com/yarn/schachenmayr/sm_regia_6ply.shtml):

More of my favorite sock yarn links:
Regia 4 Ply (http://www.fuzzymabel.com/yarn/schachenmayr/sm_regia_4ply.shtml)
Regia Cotton 4 ply (http://www.fuzzymabel.com/yarn/schachenmayr/sm_regia_cotton.shtml)
Regia Stetch (http://www.fuzzymabel.com/yarn/schachenmayr/sm_regia_stretch.shtml)

Knit Picks Sock Garden (http://www.knitpicks.com/yarns/yarn_display.aspx?itemid=5420105)
I like Koigu PPPM for socks and I know there's a green and black colorway, but it doesn't self-stripe, it looks more like
this (http://www.xantha.org/gallery/craft/DSC_0747).
I also like Lana Grossa Meilenweit [sp?], but I can only find a good selection of it at my mom's LYS, not so much online.
Smiley's has Cervinia Calzetteria (http://www.pagelinx.com/cgi-shopper/search.cgi/smileysyarns/ezshopper?user_id=5317&1_option=3&1=cervinicalzetteria&database=dbase1.exm&template=template1.htm&output_number=100) at $2.50/50g ball.
Hope that helps... I have more and more sock yarn links if you want them, but I hope the first colorway is close to what you're looking for!

YOU ROCK Jess.
That is the perfect match to the desires of her heart.
We are ordering tonight. YEA

Also thanks for the links for the other stuff. Found some great things out there. I don't shop much on line for yarn and have settled for what Michael's carries for the most part. Think that is 'achanging soon :)

woo! Very glad that colorway works for her! :D
The 6ply is a slightly thicker sock yarn than most (2 ply thicker! most fingering weight sock yarns are 4 ply), but I liked working with it a lot. My funky, super colorful rainbowy (http://www.xantha.org/gallery/craft/DSC_0882) socks are in the 6-ply.
[oh man, I think sometimes I would just be happy buying only sock yarn for everything... ]
I also really like Fuzzy Mabel. They've been great the 3 or so times I've ordered from them!

Your feet look happy in those socks :bounce
There are a ton of yarn choices out there, aren't there.
Once I am done with my next socks (that I started for me) and while waiting for oldest girlie girls yarn....I am going to use some the the self striping sock yarn for a surprise for my boys. Not even going to say what it is yet (in case it doesn't work out....but I think it will ggg) and post the results when I am done. :thinking1

socks are addictive! :bad :bad
[DH wants a pair of socks, but he wants them in plain black or olive green... like I have boring sock yarn around here! :rotfl ]
Look forward to the super secret project for the boys ! :bounce
