Sock monkeys??

ok, I'm a curious person. A good friend of mine who has just started crocheting again is also into making Sock Monkeys. (she and her sister have a "competition" to see how many places they can take pictures of their sock monkeys in)

So can you crochet a sock monkey?? if so, does anybody have a pattern?? (like I really need any more project ideas right now!!)

yes you can crochet them and there is a booklet out that tells you how i think by leisure arts that is just called sock monkeys

Okay - let me just tell you that I am kinda crazy about sock monkeys...see below - she's my fav!! I have a website totally devoted to sock monkeys - but i've never taken on the task of crocheting any. I bought a pair on ebay last year and they have a permanent spot of residence in my craft room - where they supervise all my sock monkey making and crocheting projects!

I have the crochet booklet and I've loaned it to Bagpipes - I will be happy to loan it to anyone else that needs it whenever she's done! Just let me know!

i was in walmart the other day and saw sock monkey pajamas..

the top had like two monkeys on the pocket and the bottoms were pink with a little sock monkey print all over them

Lil~ those little sock pals are too cute!

My great-grandparents (both dead 20 years or so?) had a couple of sock monkeys in their living room, I've always regretted not knowing what happened to them. Grandma had made them, and they were truly the "original" sock monkey, seeing yours reminded me of not only those fun pals, but also my wonderful great-g's. Thanks for the memory trip!

i think a good yarn is the bernat denim in the brown and white colour way .. that is what i am gonna use for mine when i get my pattern!! woohooo go sock monkeys!!

My 6 yo fell in love with lilhatshack's sock monkey poncho so I'm going to attempt one and a sock monkey, too. I think that would make an adorable gift set.

My love of sock monkeys began one winter when I took some cold medicine and I was experiencing strange side effects. I was in college at the time and saw a catalog for Restoration Hardware with a sock moneky featured on the cover. I had never seen or heard of a sock monkey until that moment. I looked at the little weird monkey and thought: I must have one and I shall call him Stanky!

I was so enamored with my first monkey that I bought a kit to sew my own. Hence, Uncle Stenchy was born. He suffered a terrible accident when I washed him: his glued-on felt eyes came off rendering him blind. I've not bothered to repair him as I think he has more character being sightless.

When I came upon the booklet for crocheting your own sock monkeys I bought it, but have yet to feel ambitious enough to make one. It's on my list of things to crochet before I die.

If anyone manages to crochet one, I'd really like to see how the monkey turns out. Meanwhile, I shall have to let my husband know about CC's Sock Monkeys!

I just got the sock monkey off of ebay for $.35. What a deal. I can't wait to make one. I remember the real ones from when I was little..never had one tho.

My mom and I were yarn shopping and ran across a free pattern page (the last one) for a sock monkey.She bought all the yarn etc. got home, and the dog ate the pattern! I have been on line ever since trying to find this pattern. Please help me , help her. thx
