Ok I have started making socks using Samplerlady's tutorial. (great tute by the way) My problem is that the toe of my sock does not look like a sock toe at all! It looks like a long striped change purse! so my question is once you have single crocheted (sp?) down the other side of the chain do you increase at both ends or only at one end?

Yes, once you go around the chain you increase at both ends of it untl it's just a tiny bit narrower than the widest part of your foot. As you continue to go round and round it'll get a bit wider. :D

Thanks! It didn't seem like I was doing something wrong but it just looks funny. I'll keep going and post pictures when I'm done. I'm so excited I just can't follow sock patterns and this is just so easy to visualize. The photos help especially when your dyslexic.

Hi I just want to update I finished my socK!!!!!! I was so frustrated when I initially posted because it didn't look like the picture. I just had a long rectangle.
What I figured out though was that I made my starting chain too long and I did not increase enough. So i ripped out the whole thing and made my chain shorter and added more increases so that the toe part hugs my toes more. I also crocheted tighter than I normally do so when I got to the heel part I could not get the chain over my foot I switched to a bigger hook for a couple of rows then back to my original size then smaller for the ribbing part at the top. I used Lion Brand Majic Stripes yarn. One day when I figure out how to get my pictures smaller I will Post the finished product.
Thats my experience with the tutorial. Thanks for the great tutorial I have been intimidated by socks for so long this made it soooo easy! It felt so good when I finished that sock! All day I just kept holding it looking at it and trying it on! Now I can't wait to get home to work on the other one. I know I'm a nerd!
Thanks again!
Tami
