Can't help but **** at monkeemaven's reply. I haven't tried the knitted socks so I can't be sure, but I'm going to take your word at it! Thanks for the pattern links, they both look like incredibly easy socks to do.
MY current fav is Sue's Crochet and Knitting Crocheted Socks (http://www.crochetandknitting.com/socks.htm) as it's the easiest and quickest I've done yet, and has turned out the best sock (for me). And I love the ribbing...

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v478/SamplerLady/mmouseplus.gif I prefer this kind of ribbing, too, but I don't like making socks from the cuff down. I can never get them to fit as well as toe up socks. I know how to do this cuff on toe up socks, just haven't done it yet.

Yes, to the dpns. What a royal pain. I learned the magic circle method to make them on circs. Never mastered two socks on two circs, though.
