i would just like to say, that whomever it was that said socks are a quick and easy project, is a big, fat, liar! :cry

i just can't get it. i don't know what it is. i have no problems following patterns, i totally understand "in the round". WHY can't i make socks!?!

i have this book:
learn to crochet socks (http://www.*********************/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=88)
from this book, i'm working on the footloose pattern. which is turning out great, but way to big for my baby girl! which prompted me to get:

stocking feet (http://www.*********************/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=931)
because there are patterns for smaller feet. i tried umm... the one in the middle with the crossed ankles - don't remember the name... anyhow... i do have a ? on that... is says mark edge????? (on both sides)
so is this the toe 'seam'?
and do i mark between the 2hdc ??
