guess what guess what!!!

i read on the board about freecycle (http://www.freecycle.org), so i signed up and posted that i spin and would be interested in any fibers......

i got a response from a bison (buffalo) rancher that is local!!!

he is GIVING me the sheddings in april!! i promised not to profit from his generosity (this stuff sells for around $45/lb).

how happy am I?!? :yay

Very cool Rebecca (I think). Since I know nothing about bison fibers and from your reaction, I assume it is good!! I don't have anything to card and process shearing. If I were to get some sheep shearing, what should I do with it???

deneen - since he told me to expect quite a bit of it... i'll be sending it off for processing. i know there are several places that do it. not off the top of my head, of course... but i know they do exist. a lady at my weaver's guild meeting just last week was telling me about the place she sends hers to. she raises sheep and spins their wool. anyhow, i'd be glad to find out. she told me 3 fleeces only cost her $38. that's a fair price in my book, for the work that goes in to processing at home by hand. :U

You guys have taught me so much!! I don't know anyone around here who does this. I must live in an area of the US that loves acrylic!!

I will be on the lookout for groups though. Thanks Rebecca!
