Deneen, there is a Yahoo group just for NJ fiber people!! It's called NJ Fiber Artists. Very nice group of ladies, not too busy, emails come in spurts when people have something to talk about.
Rebecca, don't feel sad about your undecorated spindle, when it's full of yarn you can't see the design anyway!!!!

Decoupage would work great. I think we all bought from this one seller because it came with roving and instructions all for $10.99 plus shipping.

It came in, but I'm not starting til my Spin book comes in. I need all my ducks in a row!
I won't order from her again though cause she charged $9 shipping on a $3.85 package!! I hate that

wow! I hadn't paid attention to what hubby paid for shipping vs. what the pkg cost to ship. Same lady though, so probably the same.
So cool that you got it in though! How long before your book comes? You must have some serious patience to wait *g* I couldn't have done it! I ripped it open and petted my rovings, read some stuff online and started playing pretty much right away lol.

Okay, I took it out and touched it. I did pet all the rovings and smelled them for sheep poo (none, tg)
But I really want to sit down with it and concentrate. With my five year old always, it's not so easy.

Yeah, very ture. As much as she loves your winder, I imagine the spinning is reeeally gonna interest her. Maybe you can let her wind something while you spin... doesn't have to be the spun stuff, just something for her to do while you're spinning, so she feels like she's part of things. The practice'd be good for her, eventually she'll get good at it and she can be Mom's official Winder lol. Kids love to be part of things. Even B, at 10 yrs old and a *boy* likes to help me or be with me when I'm in "yarn mode" hmmm I wonder if we put off more positive energy when we're crocheting or playing with yarn?

i just might decoupage mine up http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v478/SamplerLady/mmouseplus.gif Be careful. If you get it out of balance it will be much harder to use.... I did one with polymer clay that was going to be part of an exchange. It's really pretty but doesn't spin worth a ****.... :(

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v478/SamplerLady/mmouseplus.gifI used decals on my spinning bobbins. I found them at Michael's. They are the ones you position and then rub on with a spoon or some other rounded tool. They added a nice look to the bobbins without adding any weight to them.... :D
