I am now subscribed to 3 yahoo spinning groups -Spinning Camp, Spindlers and NJ Fiber Artists ('cause I live in NJ). I have been chatting with some very very nice ladies <img border=0 src="http://img28.photobucket.com/albums/v84/crochetville/bounce012.gif" /> and I have been invited to a spinning club meeting this Saturday that is only about 30 min from here <img border=0 src="http://img28.photobucket.com/albums/v84/crochetville/clap.gif" /> Hopefully DH doesn't have to work!

I just ordered some Border Leicester roving from <a href="http://www.prismportal.com/fiberarts/spinningfibers-pg1.htm" target="_new">Ewesful Fiber Arts</a> The owner Susan has been especially nice to me. Funny thing is, I "met" her the other day, not on any fiber board, but on my lizzard message board! We both own Bearded Dragons. Silkworms :::shudder:::: are a excellent bug to feed lizzards, not that I have gotten up the courage to get them yet. Susan was asking if the kind that you feed to lizzards are the same kind that can be used to make silk. She was asking because she spins. You know I jumped all over that! We chatted back & forth a few times and she pointed me towards the yahoo groups <img border=0 src="http://img28.photobucket.com/albums/v84/crochetville/ura1.gif" />

I also have been checking out pictures of Angora Bunnies. OMG, they have to be the cutest things on the face of the earth! Hubby is scared...very very scared. Nah, I'm not going to get one, too much work, but it's good keeping him on his toes <img border=0 src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v84/crochetville/rotfl.gif" />

I'm about halfway through the roving that came with the spindle, once I finish it, I'll take a picture. I'm still having trouble drafting properly, hopefully if I can go to the meeting I'll have a better idea when i see it done in person.

heh! I keep asking hubby if we can quit our IT jobs in the city, buy a ranch and have sheep and angora goats and alpacas ... I think he is a little frightened, but he likes to watch me spin on my spindles (and is interested in making nostepindes and niddy-noddies, so it can't be too bad). :)

You can adopt (http://www.petticoathillfarm.net/) a Shetland here (e-mail them for details) for $12 a month or $120 in one lump sum and they will mail you the fleece after shearing. No fences, feed, or poop. Just a dirty fleece! :D

oh my oh my you aren't kidding. when i VERY first begun to spin.... i had NO IDEA what i was doing and order 15 POUNDS of raw fleece.

it took SOOOOOO long to process it.... i still am (well, hubby does the carding for me while watching tv and i sit next to him and crochet).

don't get me wrong... i'm glad i did it, however, now i know better :loco

'tis why i want an angora bunny - just gotta love it and brush it.....and bunny poop doesn't smell :frog

My husband's from an area in Montana with a lot of sheep ranchers (his school mascot is the Sheepherders) and I told him that if we move to Montana, we'd have to raise sheep. He likes the idea of living in Texas better. (heh heh, my plan worked. :bad )

I have some Golden Chiengora and some Blue Merle (blueish grey, black, white, tan all mixed together). I always say my Golden has the psysique of a sheep so it's fitting <img border=0 src="http://img28.photobucket.com/albums/v84/crochetville/sheep.gif" />

I have a lot more brushing to do to have enough to work with, I probably will blend it with some kind of wool when it's time.
