Its tape like masking tape on hook is why I can't see the size of it, I think its a F, but yes I put there to make the steel hook more comfortable for me. I always use plastic hooks for everything but on project like this I have to use steel because of the wire, although wood hook might be ok too. I have heard that using plastic hooks are better for U if you have hand problems because they do give a bit while you work, they are cheap like a buck a peice, which is good because they will break sometimes. And the smallest size the plastic will go down to is a D.
