Dear Ladies!
Yesterday I persuaded my friend to buy a very interesting yarn. I don't need it myself, but I want to crochet from it very much. And it will fit to my friend's new skirt. So she bought it, and I promised to crochet her a small bolero.
The yarn is very thick. 200 gram - 80 metres. It's written on it to use hook 12 - 15 mm. I want to make short shrag or bolero with grid with big holes. If I have enought yarn I'll make long sleeves, if not - sleeves will be short.
Here is a picture of my yarn (mine is red)

Haven't you seen anything made from such yarn? How it looks like? May be you crochet anything from this. If you know any links with anything made from this - share!
I'd be grateful for any ideas.

Beautiful yarn it looks like it would be fun to work with.

No idea if this will work with your yarn but it's open grid like you talked about:

Little bit bigger version:

:cheer There is only one word for how you should use the thick yarn.
:cheer KNIT.:cheer On BIG needles.
Really, Crochet does not suit really thick yarn because of the way the stitches double the yarn up and it will not go very far.
If you knit it, you can crochet a trim with the feathery yarn, onto it.
Hope this helps.
Have fun.

This shawl pattern uses a 19mm hook.

Thank you for your ideas!
I like the shrags Empress Busy Bee showed. Sometimes it seems to me that you know EVERYTHING in the Internet!
EugeneClarence! The shawl is nice, and so easy!
Aggie May! May be you are right that it's better to knit. But first I have to buy big-big needles. The biggest needles I have ever used are 9 mm. And I like the idea to use feathery yarn.
When I do anything, I'll show!

I used a very thick yarn on a P hook to crochet myself an afghan. I used a simple sc ripple pattern...it came out beautifully and is extremely warm.

Thank you for inspiration! I want to show what I have done! I crochet it from the top, there are no seams. And I used only 200 g of yarn, 80 m!
