OK, I have looked everywhere that I know to look. I have been looking for a hat that is sort of the shape of a Santa hat, but a lot longer. One of the kids in the movie A Christmas Story was wearing one. I think the one in the movie was knitted, but I want one crocheted. My sister hat been asking me to make one for her for a wile now. She is free spirited enough to wear it too! If anyone has any ideas on how to make one, or knows of a pattern out there, would you let me know? I think she wants it to go down to about shoulder length or a little bit longer.
Thanks in advance!

I just wanted to say what a neat idea for a hat! I never thought of it. Would love to see the FO if you are lucky enough to find a pattern :)

Thank you for the options. The santa hat on that sight doesn't look like it is long at all. And the stocking hat doesn't look long enough.:( Does anyone have any other ideas? Maybe someone knows how I could get that stocking hat longer?

My sister has aproved the pattern and will be going to pick out some yarn when ever she finds the time. I will just need to figure out how to make it bigger. Anyone have any ideas on that?

:cheer I love this place! :clap It's so much fun to get new ideas and have such great people to help you out when needed.

Making it bigger won't be that hard.. If I were doing it, I'd just do the ribbing until it was big enough to go around the recipients head snugly.. the rest of the hat would follow the stripe pattern, but you'd PROBABLY have more than 50 stitches...just decrease by one or two stitches every other row until down to 6 stitches.

you might want to make the ribbing wider too.. up to you.
