Don't think I'll buy on sale yarns anymore unless I have a pattern in mind! Any suggestions on what to make with these? I don't particularly want to make hats and scarves. Here's what I have:
Eleven 1.75 oz/50 g balls
Bernat Frenzy
Blue Beserk
Chunky Bulky No. 5 yarn
Eleven 2.5 oz/70 g balls
Lion Boucle
Hard Candies
Super Bulky No. 6Thanks for any help!

Maby a basket? Round out of sc with a big hook> I have a few skeins of Lion Brand cotton, this stuff is thick, and I figured when I got around tuit...I'd do it! hehe. :D B/c of the thickness of the yarn, a basket should hold shape pretty good.

You may want to try using a 4 ply strand of worsted weight, along with a strand of frenzy fun fur, to create a granny square throw. I have made several of these, using an N hook. :hook

How about a Doris Chan pattern that appears in the Interweave Knits Crochet magazine from winter 2004?
It's called Open Fan Cardigan and it uses HUGE bulky yarn - I just started making it last night;) using some hand-dyed yarn that I bought a while back that is so thick a 200-yard hank rolled up into a ball the size of a cantelope! The yarn called for in the pattern is Rowan Big Wool, four or five balls (depending on size) 87 yards per ball, and either a P or Q hook

This is the cover of the magazine you'd be looking for

Thanks very much for your suggestions!
I don't know if either yarn would hold up as a basket. They're pretty soft.
I like the open fan cardigan but you know it can be such a hassle trying to get back copies of magazines.
A throw sounds nice but I don't know if I have enough yarn. The 2 colors are incompatible!
I just don't know what I want! Ever feel like that?
But thanks again for taking the time to offer suggestions!

You can carry along heavy string, twine or hemp with a soft bulky yarn and end up with a study upright basket. They also are quite handsome and unique.

I made a up a small afghan using some of the yarns you shared. You can see more about it on my blog here (http://ibrakeforyarnhooksandbooks.blogspot.com/search/label/afghan)
I'm with you on purchasing only for a pattern in mind!

Thanks, sammimag, your small afghan is very pretty and so homey and comfortable looking! I like your supernova afghan but probably too holey for me. Will have to check out that square. There I go, on to something new! :ohdear
You know, I really wanted to make a sweater, maybe a V-neck, but I probably don't have enough yarn. A short-sleeved sweater or a vest probably would look weird in these yarns. I was looking at the Groovy Crochet vest and the Bohemian vest, only I'd want like a hip-length one, that's been in Show and Tell, I think. But they both call for worsted weight yarn. Could probably make it work, I don't know. :think :idea
Some day, I'll find something! Just gotta quit buying yarn without a plan in mind! :thumbdown Oh, I just have so many things I want to make...it's overwhelming!!! :help
Guess it's time for :icecream in our 22 degree weather. It's warming up! Gonna have a heat wave! :hot
Thanks again for the ideas!

I tend to make little "cat beds" with leftover bulky yarn. Pillowcases/pockets and/or throw pillows are also nice little projects that don't take up too much yarn. Fun to stuff and give away. Everyone likes little throw pillows, and they are fun to cross stitch on with an initial or heart or flower or something.

This book has some fun ideas for chunky yarn: Funky Chunky Crocheted Accessories (http://www.amazon.com/Funky-Chunky-Crocheted-Accessories-Customize/dp/1564776484/sr=8-2/qid=1172095937/ref=pd_bbs_sr_2/105-5258802-9657237?ie=UTF8&s=books). It starts out with a basic pattern for hats, bags, scarves, mittens, and slippers, then shows different ways to customize them. You could check with your local library before purchasing the book and see if it's something you'd like.

Thanks, everyone! You're giving me ideas but still not sure what I'm gonna do with these yarns. It's probably a way off into the future project anyway.
