Being a larger woman I never seem to be able to find modern patterns to crochet. I like a longer shaped bolero or a long cardigan anyone know of any free patterns out there?:yay

Cherish,

I have a lot of links for plus size knitting but not crochet. If you want the knitting I can post them just let me know. Here is one for crochet and I will add more as I find more in my links.

http://www.bernat.com/pattern.php?PID=1844
http://www.geocities.com/faerycrafty1/summertops.html this site has lots of links to tops but don't know if any are plus size.

I just today picked up several books from my library that I got on an interlibrary loan. They are all geared towards larger sizes but several are knitting. I will list them anyway.

Cool Crochet (Paperback) (has sizes up to 3xl and styles are young and cute) by Melissa Leapman (http://www.crochetville.org/exec/obidos/search-handle-url/104-0745934-2212747?%5Fencoding=UTF8&search-type=ss&index=books&field-author=Melissa%20Leapman) (Author), Joe VanDeHatert (http://www.crochetville.org/exec/obidos/search-handle-url/104-0745934-2212747?%5Fencoding=UTF8&search-type=ss&index=books&field-author=Joe%20VanDeHatert) (Photographer)

Big Girl Knits : 25 Big, Bold Projects Shaped for Real Women with Real Curves (Hardcover) by Jillian Moreno (http://www.crochetville.org/s/104-7128114-7866330?ie=UTF8&index=books&rank=-relevance%2C%2Bavailability%2C-daterank&field-author-exact=Jillian%20Moreno), Amy R Singer (http://www.crochetville.org/s/104-7128114-7866330?ie=UTF8&index=books&rank=-relevance%2C%2Bavailability%2C-daterank&field-author-exact=Amy%20R%20Singer) (this is knitting. up to 3 x i think also nice styles)

Classic knits for real women Versatile knitwear designs for plus sizes
by storey & Brant (I liked these styles. sizes 14 to 24. this is knitting)

Family circle easy plus-size knits. (knit and crochet)

I ordered them from the library and that way the patterns are free.

Rowen has some patterns out there that are free and plus size. also white lies has some beautiful patterns but I am not sure of any of them are free.

Good luck I know they are hard to come by. Let me know if you find anything online. Barb

Leisure Arts has a booklet, Plus Size Sweaters by Melissa Leapman. They are very pretty and flattering. I haven't made one yet, but they look easy enough.

Take a look at the free crochet pattern index on the Lion Brand site. The far right-hand column identifies the sizes.

There are also these plus size links.

Hi Cherish...I know what you mean. I'm using the Vintage Crochet Cardigan CAL to try and learn how to adapt patterns for smaller sizes to sizes with more generous proportions.
Here's the pattern we're working on, if you'd like to try:
