I picked up some of this yarn yesterday, thinking maybe if I messed around with the hook size and what not that I'd be able to make one of those round ripple blankets, be heavier, but I thought maybe it would work. Much to my dismay I had no luck and it just ruffled a lot not matter what I tried. So now I am on the hunt of a baby blanket that I can make with this yarn. I totally love it and really want to make a blanket for my daughter with it, but am not having the best luck finding a pattern that would work well with this yarn. Or maybe suggestions on how this yarn may work better with the round ripple pattern....changes to pattern or suggested gauge...Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks ladies! :cheer

I've found with yarns like this that a very simple pattern is best, and lets the yarn be itself. Maybe something really simple like:
Chain approximately 33 inches, end with an odd number.
Row 1: HDC in 3rd ch from hook. YO in same stitch. YO through next stitch. YO and draw through all loops on hook. Repeat to end of chain. Chain 3 and turn.
Row 2: Skip first HDC (ch 3 counts as first HDC/loop). HDC in next stitch, repeat as above to end of row, et al.
Go about 38 inches long :)
It's soft, it's snuggly, it's a little 'stretchy'...and it really shows off a bulky yarn! And it goes fast.

I love using softee chunky for baby blankets!! Go to Celt's crochet site (http://www.angelfire.com/folk/celtwich/) and look for the Plate doily. It's a spiral, and that's what I use for my baby blankets all the time...They get rave reviews...Here's one example that I made for my dd after she was born:

I've made them using white, the pink, and also Lion Brand Jiffy. I've had folks see me carrying dd's around, and they've ordered them from me. They're very quick to make, and it typically takes one or two nights...It's just scs and chs!!
