3 strand afghan

Just finished this using 3 strands, a shell pattern and a P hook. It was quick and easy!

I've never used 3 strands yet. I have just finished 2 baby blankets using 2 strands and a 10mm hook (don't know the US size) and they've turned out really nice. Does the third strand make any difference??
