The DMC crochet cotton size 10 ~
I have just recently seen it in my local Wal mart and wondered how it measures up ?

I have several balls of it but have yet to use it ~ trying to finish up a tablecloth, poncho and bookmarks for the swap ~ then the new cotton gets a go ~:bow

The DMC is the same as any of the other size 10 crochet cotton as far as I know :thinking1

I've been using it on my bookmarks. I think it's a little more smoother than the other size 10 thread I've used (bought also at Walmart).

DMC thread is a silkier, smoother thread.. It comes in many different colors as well as in size 10, 20 and 30..
you will find that you will like this thread much better than southmaid or the others..

DMC Cebelia thread is the creme de la creme of threads. It works up much nicer than the cheaper threads like Southmaid, Aunt Lydia's, etc. There are threads that are equal to DMC, made by Skacel called Manuela, who used to make Optima (which was divine thread but discontinued). I've found a high quality thread made by Coats and Clark (the people who make either Southmaid or Aunt Lydia's) called Opera. Their Opera is on par with DMC and Skacel.

Once finding that DMC works better I haven't gone back to the cheaper costing threads. To get the color selection in DMC or the other threads, local yarn shops can get them for you, or buy them online.

I am using the #20 right now, making a tablecloth. I normally use Bernat for the #10 as the thread is not as delicate but stronger. I find the DMC very expensive, but excellent. For a small ball, I would pay about $3.81 Cdn.

I have used the DMC#10 thread for several projects. I like the feel and the color of the thread. The colors seem to be more vivid and the thread is silkier.

The only other one that I find I like is South Maid.

One thing I have found is that like anything else, everyone has their preference.

I totally agree...its easier on my fingers when I am working with it. Good choice on your purchase. But then again, I like all threads that have passed through my fingers:manyheart

the dmc is a dream to work with, it is softer than any other cotton I have felt. My grandmother, who was a thread crochetter for at least 40 years (until her eyes no longer allowed it), swore by her dmc :)

Dmc has been my first choice of threads for years, The others have a long way to go to be the quality of their thread. If I am going to invest my time into making something I want it to last. I have found that the Dmc just works up better and the item holds up better than any other thread I have tried.
I have used just about every size that they make from the size ten down to the size 100.

I use the DMC #10 constantly, and love it. I also like the Coats & Clark "Big Ball" in various sizes, but am finding that I have to order it.

Being in Europe I have access to the threads over here which are often very different from the US threads - I have fallen in love with DMC's Babylo in size 10 - it is a wonderful thread! As well, Coats Aida is very nice!

My favorite European thread though is a size 5 thread - DMC Petra which comes in an amazing ray of colors and works up gorgeously!

I'm using the DMC now for a doily. It works up nicely but doesn't feel that soft & silky to me. My favorite is Coats & Clarks Knit cro- Sheen, although it's getting harder to find these days especially in colors. It has that nice sheen to it and works up easily. Another nice thread also by C&C is Royale. Michaels carries it in a lot of colors and sizes.

I am hooked on dmc cebelia threads. I like the sheen of it and the texture. I use to use aunt lydias as it is readily available around here though.
