adding a ribbon

I have two bookmarks that I am suppose to sew a ribbon onto. Was wondering how I go about doing this? Will the stitches show through to the front? Any good tips?

I'm sorry I can't help you...I've never done that before. Most of the bookmark patterns that I've seen with ribbons just have the ribbons woven in, not sewn on.
