I think I did it, with a minimum of discomfort and insecurity. I did frog it once, almost back to the start because it curled so badly. I still have to add the 'tail' to it to make it a bookmark, but I'm pleased for my first project. It's #10 thread and a size 7 hook.
I may be able to tackle that poinsettia after all! <img border=0 src="http://img28.photobucket.com/albums/v84/crochetville/clap.gif" />

Wow!!!
That is spectacular!
I'm not in love with thread yet. I tried to do a few bookmarks for end of school teacher gifts. I tried a few different patterns and they looked nothing like the pictures lol!
I winged it and got some fairly odd looking things, I told myself they were free form ;-)

Looks great! It's not so bad once you get used to it, but it is hard to get used to if you love yarn!

LOL - what, that pineapple on the table doesn't qualify? <img border=0 src="http://img28.photobucket.com/albums/v84/crochetville/wha.gif" /> I was hoping like crazy it did! <img border=0 src="http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/tongue.gif" />

:rofl Pineapple on the table=pineapple tablecloth? I got a laugh out of that! If I ever do a tablecloth (big "if") it will be one continuous one and not motifs. I dislike motifs with a passion and I've never even done that many of them. Some of them are lovely, though... sigh. :bigsmile

I'm sure it will Donna, by leaps and bounds better. I know you've been playing with it for longer than I have. <img border=0 src="http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/smile.gif" />

Not by much. I've made two small flowers (about one inch diameter) a few tiny leaves, and tried the first couple of rows of a bookmark but frogged it because it was too loose (didn't have quite the right size hook). :b
