I am kinda new to thread--it makes me feel like a giant--but I have done some bookmarks (all are free from somewhere on the net):
<img border=0 src="http://img20.imageshack.us/img20/3641/2bmarks.jpg" /> <img border=0 src="http://img18.imageshack.us/img18/3226/3bmarks.jpg" />

and a <a href="http://www.denisecrochets.com/yankee-doodle.html" target="_new">doily</a> to start with.<img border=0 src="http://img33.imageshack.us/img33/5021/rwbdoily.jpg" />

None have been blocked or had the ends woven in yet (I thought I hated doing that with yarn--<img border=0 src="http://img28.photobucket.com/albums/v84/crochetville/wha.gif" />--well I hate it 1000x more with thread!).

Michelle, those look so pretty! I have to start, I bought my hooks but I haven't gotten brave enough yet. <img border=0 src="http://img28.photobucket.com/albums/v84/crochetville/sweat.gif" />

Oh, come on, Julie and Rebecca!! :) Thread isn't all that difficult...just takes a little practice, is all. ;)

I love thread, but the problem is, I can't design anything! I wish I could.

Don't worry Rachel, I bought my thread hooks yesterday at Walmart. The new Swap is bookmarks and I'll learn thread for certain now. You won't mind if I pester you for tips, will you? <img border=0 src="http://img28.photobucket.com/albums/v84/crochetville/sweat.gif" />

Pester me? No problem. :thumbsup I am not an advanced crocheter, though.

What bookmark are you doing?

I don't know yet. I bought the <a href="http://www.purplekittyyarns.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=938" target="_new">3 Dozen & One Bookmarks</a> book at Walmart a week or two ago. I haven't settled on one yet, but I'm thinking starting with just swatching a basic sc or dc to get used to the difference in tension. Then if I manage that, I can find some bookmarks to play with. I also promised to crochet a poinsettia for Mom towards Christmas time so I have got to figure this out! <img border=0 src="http://img28.photobucket.com/albums/v84/crochetville/scratchhead.gif" />

Great work on those! The doily looks so elegant! I love the star in the middle and the red/white/blue colors with it :)

thanks everyone!

I love, love, love that doily--actually, all of the doilies at <a href="http://www.denisecrochets.com/archive.html" target="_new">denise crochets</a>. they are last year's mystery patterns from her site. I cannot imagine doing them without the picture though--yikes!
