I've been looking at CPC and haven't found what I'm looking for yet. I'd like a pattern or at least the basic idea of how to put together granny squares to make a child-sized poncho (for my 8 year old). Any ideas? I'm sure I've seen some pictures in a pattern book somewhere but I can't remember which one. I'd love any ideas, suggestions, websites, or books you know of.
Thanks in advance! :)

I made one of these and it is SOOOOOOOOOOOOo EASY!!! I don't have it anymore but I can find out if the person I gave it to still does. (I really hope so!)

Anyways - the front is 3 granny squares, the back is 3 granny squares and 1/2 a granny at the upper back. There was just too much upper back showing and Amber was cold. Then I went around it a couple times, fringed it an Voila - instant poncho.
To find out how large to make the grannies - measure across just below the ribs from arm to arm and a couple more inches. That'll tell you how big it needs to be diagonally and all the grannies are the same size.

In Donna Kooler's Encyclopedia of Crochet, there's a very cute granny square poncho. You should check your library to see if they have it or can get it for you!

There's an adorable one on the cover of "Ponchos & More for Kids." I like it because it has a really neat crocheted ribbing around the edges.
I found a picture of it at www.purplekittyyarns.com (http://www.purplekittyyarns.com) but can't post a link to the leaflet for some reason. It's by Leisure Arts.

Here's one from the Coats and Clark site:

I know I've seen others so I'll let you know when I find it.

Thanks for all the help, everyone! I really appreciate it.
I'm laughing at myself right now. :D I actually HAVE Donna's Encylopedia out from the library right now--no wonder I thought I had seen a pic of one recently. :)
