I've been looking online for a pattern for a purse for the past few days and haven't had any luck. I'd like to crochet a purse that doesn't have a crocheted shoulder strap or handles but instead uses the bamboo/plastic/or wood handles that you can buy at the sewing and craft stores. I found only one pattern that used round handles and the handles were crocheted onto the bag. I liked it a lot, but it was way out of my league and looked like something for someone much more experienced than me. I'm just looking for something that's pretty simple. I've been doing sc, hdc, dc, and tc and feel comfortable with those. I just started trying shell crochet-that was fun. Does anyone know where I can find a pattern for a purse like this-I'd love to do some yarn shopping tomrrow:D . Thanks in advance for your help.

That's a great site. It's filled with all sorts of patterns. The Joann's pattern for the "honeycomb crochet purse" was the one I found that I thought would be too hard for me right now, but I love it so I'm going to put it aside for when I get a little more experienced. The "mini-handled purse" looks like something I can handle. Thanks for your help. I'm off to buy some yarn.

I might be wrong since I've only made two purses/totes so far, but couldn't you take just about any purse pattern and use those plastic or wooden handles?
Cay, you should take a look at the Nordstrom Hobo CAL...that purse uses a leather storebought strap. If you aren't into that kind of strap, the basic purse is really easy and could be adapted.
