Ok, so I'm looking for a particular type of yarn and I'm hoping you lovely folks can help! (Any suggestions at all would be greatly appreciated!)

I need a *thick* or bulky yarn. Probably a wool or wool blend. I've seen this before but have no idea what type it was. (Doesn't that help? :D! ) The yarn is almost as thick around as a pencil and it's quite soft. I think it might be Lionbrand Woolease Thick and Quick, but I could swear I've seen it in colors that are not available from them.

I'm wondering if there are any similar brands out there? I was particularly wondering about Bernant Softee Chunky?

Any help would be great! Thanks!

Melissa

I've seen it in several colors, mostly neutrals - browns, beiges, reds, russets...but I know I've also seen it in a hot pink and some turquoise/teal colors, and I *know* there isn't a lionbrand in that color.

Also, while I'm on the subject, does anyone know of a yarn that looks sort of like collinette point 5 but isn't thick and thin? It has that fluffy, dread lock sort of look and is also about as thick around as your finger. I haven't been able to find anything like that anywhere.

Thanks again for help!

Melissa

Is it Patons Melody? They have some bright colors and are just as thick as the Wool Ease Thick and Quick...

Thank you so much! I've never seen Pattons melody (medly?)...I know JoAnns and Michaels sometimes carry it, but I don't think they have it around here. I may just have to roder t, but that's perfect.

Thanks! :)h

You're welcome! :hug I got some on clearance and I'm trying to make some socks out of it for around the house. I just keep getting sidetracked. I've found it to be very soft and the color (I got an orangey-pink) was really pretty.

I forgot about Jiffy T&Q! That does come in bright colors. I've never worked with it though...

Well, its not wool, totally synthetic, but Aunt Lydias is a VERY thick yarn. I love it for hats. It comes in lots and lots of colors!

It *was* Patons Melody! Thanks to everyone for suggesting it - I scored some on ebay and it was exactly what I needed.

Unfortunately, none of the craft stores around here sell it :( but hopefully they will sometime soon.

Thanks again!

oooh, I must check out these Caron brights in chunky weight! :) Another similar yarn is the new RH Bright and Lofty. I saw it at my Walmart for the first time this weekend. Very bright, very cute.
