... a good choice to make a blanket for a toddler?

A nice lady on this board is going to buy some yarn for me and as I am in Norway I have no way of feeling the yarn myself. So I would appreciate your opinions on how it will work.

Does it tolerate frequent (gentle) washing? Does it stay in shape of does it get floppy with use?

TIA :))

Does it tolerate frequent (gentle) washing? Yes, it does. I actually wash my afghans in a regular cycle and they come out fine.

Does it stay in shape of does it get floppy with use? My afghans stay in shape when washed. They do get a little less stiff feeling (softer) after awhile, though.

The blanket will last for years and years, and never lose its color. You'll love it! <img border=0 src="http://img28.photobucket.com/albums/v84/crochetville/veryhappy.gif" />

i'm agreeing - after a wash with a fabric sheet (or2) in the dryer - niceNsoft. i have 2 blankets both in RH that each of my grandmothers made me, one is about 15 years old and the other probably 11 or so. neither have faded or are misshapen. my children use them on their beds, so they go through frequent washings :fluffy

I think RH is an excellent choice for toddler blankets. First, the skeins are cheap (about $2.17 for an 8 oz), second the yarn holds up well during wash and drying, third - it just gets softer and softer with each washing and like Julie said, it wont fade.

I've got to add my <img border=0 src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v84/crochetville/twocents.gif" />. I agree with those before me. It's a very good choice indeed. <img border=0 src="http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/happy.gif" />

Thank you all for your input! It's very nice to have someone to ask before buying the yarn unseen.

Red Heart Super Saver it is then :))

Just had to add, my mom knits and she only uses RHSS. I have an afghan that is close to 20 yrs old, and I still use and wash it all the time!
