shoot this jute!

i'm making the sandals that were posted somewhere, i don't remember, but i am using jute rope for the soles (i thought it might make them more durable?) and boy, does it hurt. i've had to take a couple of breaks. it makes my hook hand sore and it just down right hurts my hand that holds the yarn. as i'm pulling it through my fingers it's all scratchy and raw... ick:( hopefully it will be worth it.

anyone else have any experience with jute? whadya make?
