Ugh!

I was sooo good this month by cleaning out my stash closet, donating some baby yarns gave away some other yarns, finishing up some UFO's...etc. Then the DeStash Backlash hit :eek

In the last few weeks I've bought probably 30 skeins of various yarns for various projects, and last night while at WM I couldn't help myself but to buy three skeins just cause I thought they were pretty. I will probably do exchange squares with them, but I have no other "real" reason for buying them...sigh - I just took up all the space I cleaned out...LOL.

Has anyone else had this problem?

I only think I'm de-stashing. Instead, I'm de-rooming. I have no room for more, but that doesn't stop me!! :rock

It's definitely happened to me. I start projects designed to help me get rid of yarn and I just end up buying more. I have all of this really pretty yarn that I just need to do something with.

I found the perfect place to store my yarn. And outgrew it in about a week. But now? No more. I have enough yarn.

Maybe. :angel

The more I set my mind to getting rid of my stash, the more I'm tempted to buy new yarn! I think it's some evil consipiracy by the yarn devil. :pig

Oh yes, my yarn stash is growing with all these newer yarns I am discovering :D Since I started crocheting in '96 I mostly only used RH and Caron, so that's what most of my stash contains...I am trying to use up the RH stash to make room for the new yarns I am discovering.

What's a de-stash??? Seriously, I kind of de-stash, if I use yarn, I have to replace it. If I don't use yarn, I still buy more. It is definitely an addiction, big time!!!! And if it is on sale or clearance or a new color, that's it. They jump into my cart and plead with me to take them home. And of course, I can't resist.

Happy de-stashing!! LOL.

I have the same stash problem. I came across this button somewhere:
<img border=0 src="http://img17.imageshack.us/img17/6986/YarnDietButton.jpg" alt="Image Hosted by ImageShack.us" /" />, and have added it to my blog. You're supposed to put "Last purchase: [date]" underneath it, so you can monitor yourself! Unfortunately I don't know where to link it to--someone on this board!?

we'll see if it does anything to curb my appetite....<img border=0 src="http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/roll.gif" />

Oh, boy. I haven't been crocheting (or knitting) in weeks, but that hasn't stopped me from buying yarn. I just won a sweater's worth for a great price on Ebay. It's as if the more idle my hands are, the more my brain needs to plan new projects!

Michelle, thanks to Vera (http://vhanna26.typepad.com/) (I e-mailed her because I knew she would know ;) ), I can tell you that button was made by Missa, Midnight Knitter (http://www.moonarts.com/blog/midnightknitter.html).

Well, at least I'm not alone in my yarn frustrations. LOL.

I absolutely cannot resist clearance yarn. :o

And I wont even go to Ebay because of the evil temptation hiding there...I think that's where the yarn devil lives...

Love the button. I will definitely have to put that one up on my blog. Maybe it will help me too...LOL.

:lol oh, how ya'll make me laugh! clearance seems to be my only temptation. i have a crochet budget, be it books or yarn or whatever. my stash is quite small. except for my purchase on ebay a month back. has anyone else discovered textiles4u ? huge amounts of yarn at really good prices. i got 18 pounds of great chenille for $40. i plan to make an ultra thick blanket for my bed and a victorianish lacey afghan for my mom. :rock

I have gone to 1 Micheals and 3 jo-anns but haven't been able to find one roll of Red heart, gold color! I did find one Jo-anns that restocks every Friday and just gets what comes! So, maybe...

Wow! That is a great find, you would be crazy to pass up .50 cent skeins!! I wish my walmart would have more sales.

I've gotten so bad at checking out clearances that I'm way too excited to sleep tonight. I'm going to my grandparents tomorrow and that means three new Walmarts to check out in the next few days. Plus yarn stores, I have to search for yarn or craft stores close by.....

I think my family's beginning to see that I have an addiction... :)

Can I just say how at home I feel? lol I can relate to each and every post on this thread! :lol

Sometimes, I think that if hubby hears me say "I need another skein of X" that he will leave me. ;) However, since I make the majority of our gifts, he can't complain too much.
