Between Lion Brand Wool-Ease and Lion Brand Wool-Ease Chunky? Is there a difference?

I'm so new to yarn I feel silly asking such a question

I found a pattern for a 'masculine' type of afghan for my hubby... thanks to Yarngirl who recommended the Wool-Ease.

Also, is the Wool-Ease a picky feeling yarn? I know sometimes I can't stand wool sweaters, is the yarn the same way?

Thanks for all the input!

It's more acrylic than wool, Jayme, so it isn't as prickly as you would think. It does feel different than regular acrylic, but in a nice way.

The difference between regular Wool-Ease and the chunky has to do with the weight and the ply. I think the regular is four-ply, the sportweight is three and while the Thick & Quick doesn't specify a ply, it looks to be about twice as thick as the four-ply. Personally, and this is just me, but I would rather use two strands of the four or three ply than the Thick & Quick. I like the look better, and you can get more of a color change that way. More expense as you have to buy twice the yarn, but you can use two different colors at once rather than just one. It can give you wonderful shading if you are lucky.

Thanks Julie,
that makes sense to me

I will probably go for the regular wool-ease... the pattern I found calls for about 11 skeins. That's not too bad.
