Law Enforcement Crochet?!

OK.

This might sound odd, but I have to try. I have been searching everwhere, and can't find anything.

Here's the deal: I work for my county's 9-1-1 Dispatch Center. Meaning I answer 9-1-1 calls, and I dispatch officers out to calls. I've grown to love my officers, and I wanted to make something for each jurisdiction that I work with. Something to honor the fallen brethren.

Does anyone have any idea as to where I can find law-enforcement style crochet patterns?!

I know you said law enforcement...but can you be more specific about what kinds of items you'd like to make with a law enforcement theme...afghans, teddy bears, cup cozies, scarfs...what do you have in mind?

Being in Law Enforcement myself I have not found or seen any patterns either except flags & ribbons.

I know that I have found a lot of graph patterns for law enforcement but not much of any thing else Look under Row counts in search.

look at the ribbon at the bottom. Maybe you could come up with a crocheted design something like that, each with a note card explaining the color symbolism

That's exactly right mermaiden--I just wasn't sure what to make. But pretty much anything can be adapted, so I was really just trying to see if anyone had seen any existing designs.

As a police survivor (widow '84) I just wanted to tell you that I think that is a wonderful idea and I'm sure the officers and the surviving families would appreciate it. How about taking a picture of the badge (with a black ribbon on it) for the jurisdiction and turn it into a graph ( I think there is a website that does that). Or maybe visit one of the officer down memorial pages for some ideas.

You could also make mitten gloves for winter and maybe cross stitch the abbreviate their dept on them or their unit #to wear off duty and/scarf for off duty with unti # or abbreviated dept or unit on them..


Or the ear flap hats for winter and cross stitch their # on them or a badge. Sorry I don't have a link but I've seen them on the net somewhere.

I may do the ear flap hats for my officers. One year I made all of them mini Christmas stockings and put a candy cane in it.

I would love to find something with the National Guard on it. My husband has been a member of the Indiana National Guard for 27 years and I am a member of the Indiana National Guard family support Group. They do silent actions ever so often to raise money for the family in the Unit that are in need or are serving over seas. I would love to find something that would work to say I am proud of what they do for our country.

You might want to try patternsonline.com -- they have several military, Law, Fire, EMS types there. They are cross-stitch graphs, but prices are very reasonable and are downloadable. I have done the Police Officer changing the type of the graph from "Police" to Deputy, Officer, etc. plus the name of the intended who it was for. Hope this helps.
