I'm trying to find a pattern similar to this afghan.

The actual afghan is from the infamous "Big Book of Scrap Crochet Afghans".
I can't afford over $100 for 1 crochet book. :eek

Have you looked through CPC? There is bound to be something close enough.

Have you tried contacting House of White Birches to see if they have any for sale?
I can't believe the book is over $100 to buy and it was only published in 2003

.... Other than that I would look at your libraby or try to get it through Inter library load... It has the ISBN number on amazon... That's what I've been doing with books I want but cant afford to buy

I bought my copy on eBay for about $40 including shipping and I consider myself lucky. There's not a single pattern in the book that I don't love, so it might be worth the investment. It may be $9 today but, if you watch the auction, you'll watch the price climb and climb and climb!

Wow, I checked at Amazon and that book is $113 there.

I found somethng very similar on CPC: http://www.angelfire.com/folk/celtwich/Maltesecross.html. Perhaps you can adapt it to your needs.
