Grrrrrr I've been searching for a pattern because I just can't get it too look right myself, for a mesh or lace hat. I googled with those search terms.
I found a hat close to what I want but it's a hat, not a pattern.
It's here;

Anyone know of one similar to this? Or can start me out with the first 3 rows? Mine always isn't meshy enough.
Oh, and I would like to use worsted weight yarn.

There's this one (http://members.aol.com/JSchlossma/wvstc.html), just need to add the beads and omit the flower. It uses the V-stitch.
When I first saw the picture you posted, I immediately thought of the Juliet Cap (http://www.craftown.com/cropat30.htm), again you would have to add the beads. It's at the CraftTown site.

Thank you so much and such a fast response.
I will use it to learn and then create my own design.
Thanks!

There is a similar design in the crochet a day calendar from 2006.

I wonder if I can get that calendar somewhere?
I am on the 6th row of the pattern and it sure doesn't act like a hat.
It is all curly at the ends and isn't cup shaped. I will take picture an post it here to see if you think I'm doing something wrong.

Here is a free pattern on line that is similar to what you want I think........you need to join, but it is easy, and they do not send you a lot of spam or anything........besides, they have alot of really nice patterns!

Thank you LadyCroChat! I am printing it out now. You really made my day. I'm having a bad day and I lost my darn needle for the other cap and I wasn't happy with how it was looking so now I can focus on the pattern you pointed me to. :)

:cheer You would be most welcome to the pattern for this hat.

It may not be quite as open as you want but is does have holes in it.
When you say your hat attempts dont work, what do you mean?
Remember that a hat starts off looking a bit like a saucer and is increased to the size you want. It does not become a cup shape until you have done a few rounds without increasing so you may just be worrying too soon.
Let me know if you would like the pattern.
It can be made with any yarn by adjusting the number of stitches in the first row.
Hope this helps.
Have fun.
