hello everyone.

I am new to the forum and really appreciate this opportunity to get help with my corcheting.

I am desperately seeking a simple shawl pattern. I have looked extensively on the Internet, especially in all the unsual places (Lionbrand, Bernat, Crochet Pattern Central). Ones I like, I can't seem to do, and it is frustrating. I think I can manage several types of stitches - I've corcheted afgahns for one year - the swatches for the shawl patterns just aren't turning out.

I like the shell stitch shawls and am hoping for something somewhat light for spring and summer. I am using organic cotton from my local and beloved yarn store.

I'd love links to any patterns you might have that are tried and true.

Thanks for your help.

Cheers,

Leigh

Since you already checked the good spots, here's a suggestion on one I made and really had fun with. It was easy, and fast, once I got going.

Thank you Debbi. I have looked at this one. I will look again more closely and try again. Perhaps I am giving up too easily.

Hi Adii - what is the cdc? I tried a google search and got the Center for Disease Control.

Thanks,

This one is my favorite http://www.crochetville.org/forum/showthread.php?t=7691 It works up fast (I usually use a big hook) and it is very pretty and simple.

clicky

Or perhaps Chrome Kitty style,

triples on the first & last sts of the rows instead of dcs to make the front "tails" longer so there's more to wrap around...

and that's how this one turned out for me

It was also simple to make, and a bit less open than the first
