My mom is trying to make money for her 4H Dog Club to go on a big trip next year. They are planning on going to the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show. Of course, they need a lot of money to get all the kids and parents up there and accomodations. I was thinking of doing some crocheting to help out and was wondering if anyone had any ideas of any cute, small, easy to do thing that I could sell. It would be best if it was dog or even 4H related. My mom has a grooming buisness so I can send her pics, have her post it there, and get her to sell them.
Does anyone have any ideas?:think I would love to help them out but I am at a loss.

You could do doggie scarves/bandanas. They'd be fast and easy to make up in basic stitches.
Doggie placemats for their food dishes, again, these could be done quickly and easily with just basic stitches in a rectangle, or small granny squares sewn together.
To kinda repeat above, a doggie blanket. Our small dog (a Westie) LOVES laying ON things. The floor itself just isn't good enough, not even the carpeted ones. If my daughter has dirty clothes left on her floor, Daisy will make sure to lay on the clothes instead of just the carpet!
Dog toys, but the material used would have to be sturdy enough to withstand chewing.
If you had enough time, dog sweaters, although I guess that one would be a bigger seller in colder months.

Some dog collars would be cute and really fast and simple. Maybe small plush toys for the light chewers.

Some dog collars with crystal beads in them for the "diva" girls (that would be my female dog). Maybe some black collars with silver beads or studs type beads for the Manly dogs (my male dog).

You could do some quick granny squares for the "beds". Or label them as Blankets for dog houses or dog beds. You could even just do one solid color granny squares, this would be nice.

this one says it only takes 3 hours. It's in yellow and white, but can be done in any colors. It was on the 2007 Pattern A Day Calendar tooo... Uses 3 strands, great Mat for a dog.
I did this pattern for a baby afghan but used one strand of yarn and 3 colors (all in my stash), and it turned out nice.

Good luck.

There are some great ideas here. You could also make some things for people who like dogs too. Puppy dog - my favourite is Kristies. Lazy Days 3 set.

You could make some dog shaped potholders.

How about a simple saddlebag type thing so the owners can put the bags of poo in when they take their dogs for a walk? That way they wouldn't have to carry that nasty bag through the neighborhood and have the neighbors smell it when they want to stop said owners for a chat....

I like the fancy collars but I think I would worry about beading that could come off and be eaten

did you look at http://www.crochetpatterncentral.com/directory/pet_items.php

True about the beads, didn't thinkof that. Of course I have saw those bling collars at the store, so I'm not sure. Maybe if you do some, have them say, "please be careful and wathc your dog, use for special occasions and picture taking only." I guess if you crochet the beads on while you're working, that would keep them on pretty good, I'd think...

Maybe you could do a ribbon like they do for baby afghans, sew it one in places around the collar. You could find some nice ribbon.
