My neighbor had a baby boy and I made her this blanket. It wasn't as soft as I had hoped, but maybe after some washing...

Well its very pretty! :clap What kind of yarn did you use? I've washed and used fabric softener on some projects to soften and it has worked well.:hook

I would have to look at the yarn when I go home, I have no idea what it was, but it has shiny to it...like that one strand throughout that makes it kinda shiny.

I used this pattern for this blanket (http://www.bevscountrycottage.com/5-daylovie.html). It was a bunch of Double and Single crochets, if I remember correctly.

That's beautiful! I saved the link! I'll bet some fabric softener will soften it up. It works great for scratchy acrylic yarn!

That turned out really nice! From what you described, I think I used the same yarn for a baby boy blankent for a friend of mine and washing it made it very soft.

That looks almost IDENTICAL to the afghan I made for my (now twelve year old) son, I even used that same yarn with the shiny thread in it!:) Nice job!

Such a pretty blanket! No doubt she and the wee one will love it.

I love making baby blankets from Bernat Softee Baby. After washing it is even softer!

What a handsome blanket! I had made an afghan for my nephew a few months ago and it was a little itchy so I threw it in the washer with a little Dreft and it made all the difference. Now it is as soft as a cloud.

That's a nice baby blanket! I bet it will get softer after a wash or two.
You are a good neighbour!
